A Couple Arrows

So, looks like I'm back again. Possibly for the last time before New Years... depending on whether or not I get time off from my family, that is. So I have for you some reviews. If you have not seen the last two episodes of Arrow, please don't spoil yourself. Come back later. The reviews will still be here.

Arrow - "Vendetta" - Review

I... am not totally sure what I feel about this episode. The notes I took largely concern Helena and her new outfit so... yeah. I did quite enjoy the episode, though. Getting to see one of my favorite characters not looking totally ridiculous on screen was awesome. Getting to see her development, or rather, the boomeranging she did was... interesting to say the least.

I'm glad they didn't let sex totally derail the whole "justice vs revenge" conversation. I'm also glad we got to see the origin of Huntress' crossbow. Hope she keeps that around. Her outfit... mmm... yeah... that outfit's a little weird. It keeps very well to the feel of Olly's and the show's, but... I'm not sure if she's wearing a buttoned/zipped up coat or a weird top with a coat-like flare to the bottom of it. We also didn't get to see much of that purple she apparently loves, which is a downside. I always liked that Huntress had a more colorful costume.

I wasn't fond of Diggle in this episode. He was just all... mean. Like, what happened to actually giving council rather than being a jerk about every word that comes out of his mouth? Meh...

Arrow - "Year's End" - Review

Speaking of Diggle... he was pretty awesome in this episode. Back to being his old self. Though I thought he felt funky coming off the last episode....

But anyway... this episode was fun. We got more backstory. We got John Barrowman in a different outfit. We got Christmas. And it wasn't a hokey Christmas thing either, which I'm happy about. Christmas was just kind of there. I liked that the holiday thing was played just exactly right. More good sap than annoying sap... if that makes sense. Though they did get in the obligatory "But I'm Jewish" joke. Fail, writers, fail. mad0071 Free Emoticons Anger

I totally called that a) there was a trap in the back story and b) it was Mr. Merlyn being the other archer. I guess I can tell Barrowman at a distance, even with his entire face covered. And of course there was a trap in the back story. Couldn't have ended there with not even close to a year covered. The setup screamed trap. Heh, setup, trap... happy0193 Free Emoticons Happy

Housekeeping

Yeah... I'm planning on watching The Vampire Diaries at some point before CW takes it offline, I really am. I was going to today but then... there were two episodes of Arrow to watch. Gah!

Happy Holidays, by the way. Hope you guys have a good... whatever you celebrate. character00181 Free Emoticons Characters

Citizen Fang

Oh my! A second blog post in two days? Unheard of for this month! Anyway... I have a review of last week's Supernatural. If you have not seen this episode, please do not spoil yourself by reading the review.

Supernatural - "Citizen Fang" - Review

Was expecting more werewolves. Got Benny. Close enough.

I'm not sure how I feel about this episode... getting Benny back-story was nice. Martin being back annoyed me. Martin getting dead was good.

Can't say I liked Martin at all in this episode. His tactics reminded me of serial killers... or something. I especially didn't like that he actually took Elizabeth hostage instead of just using her as bait. That and his manipulation had be very glad he got what was coming to him.

More Sam and Amelia was nice. It was quite interesting and I honestly can't wait to see what Amelia does about Sam showing up out of the blue. Speaking of Sam, he seemed to be a bit OOC about Benny... At least, I found it strange...

But anyway, I'm still enjoying this season a lot more than I did the previous batch. Can't wait for the next episode. Sammy needs to be slapped.

Hunter Heroici

Okay my darlings, I'm back again for a random December blog post. I have a bit of news and a review of Supernatural for you. News first, I think, to give you time to vacate the blog if you've not seen Supernatural from two weeks ago...

happy0004 Free Emoticons Happy I'm An Aunt! happy0004 Free Emoticons Happy

December 11, 2012 at 5:45 PM, my nephew, Nazz, was born! He's the cutest little thing! And no, I'm not just saying that because I'm his very biased aunt. We've had some people tell us he looks like a C-section baby. See for yourself:

This is Nazz on day 2 of life outside his mommy. He's all bundled up in a bassinet he did not like at all... but he was sleeping when I took this so... yeah...

Needless to say, we've had quite the busy week and I haven't been motivated to watch any of the stuff I said I was going to... or write a proper blog post for that matter.

Supernatural - "Hunter Heroici" - Review

Gotta say, I like the concept of this episode. It's about time something super loony happened again. (See what I did there?) I was also convinced, until the boys found Fred, that they were dealing with a trickster. I did not, however, suspect the doctor guy of being the culprit. I think I suspected the tattooed guy, but it wasn't a strong suspicion so... yeah.

I also didn't really see how Sam's flashbacks were at all connected to Fred's psychosis (if that's even the right word for that) until the third or forth one. Like, okay, Amelia's dad does not like Sam at all. Sam tries to be all "I'm totally harmless." Amelia's dad doesn't buy it. Amelia's dad tells embarrassing story. BAM! Don is alive. Wha-huh? Ooooohhh.... the correlation makes sense now...

Also, Amanda Tapping had to waltz in at a weird moment and ruin Cas' plans... meh. Led to a cute ending, though...

Housekeeping

Uhm... yeah... not much to say here... Gaiaonline's Christmas Event has started off... slowly... and the MC was... interesting. My family's coming in next week to spend the holidays at our house... it's gonna be more nuts than usual...

Oh, and I do not like the YouTube and iTunes revamps. Thanks Google and Apple, I can now NOT be happy with you. Grrr...

It's a Magic Thing

It's been forever, I know. I've had lots of random stuff happening this week and I just now finished watching the Once Upon a Time Winter Finale. Last night, I watched The Vampire Diaries from last week... and now I'm about to review both of them for you. Some details about the coming weeks will be in the Houskeeping section. So, that makes this the SPOILER ALERT if you have not seen either of the two episodes I mentioned.

The Vampire Diaries - "My Brother's Keeper" - Review

Am I the only one who's sick and tired of Jeremy? First he had emo-kid issues. Then he had the ghost thing. Then he had the "I'm being compelled to go away from Mystic Falls for an episode" and worrying about ring corruption. Now, he's the the Hunter thing. Gah! I'm sorry, but him and his issues are seriously annoying me. That said, I quite like the aspects of the Hunter thing we're getting to see. It's like Slayers except a hell of a lot more intense. Oh, and there's five of them.

I really want to know what the Professor guy and Hayley are up to. My sister thinks it's just the "Klaus doesn't have an army" thing, but I'm not so sure. Something about the way Professor guy talked about breaking all the sire bonds has me worried it's something more drastic.

Speaking of sire bonds, Damon and Elena FINALLY hooked up. Yay. Frankly, I'm glad that's happening because I'm tired of mopey Stefan and Elena, even if it's solely because of the sire bond. This, also, did not come as a big surprise to me nor does it really bother me. In the context of the show, it should, but because of my reading of other vampire stuffage, it doesn't. Fledglings have always been loyal to their Sires. It's a thing. The mind control aspect is pretty much only in this universe, if I'm not mistaken.

Overall, I really liked this episode. Wasn't so keen on the Jeremy bits or Stefan being a giant ass, but the rest was good.

Once Upon a Time - "Queen of Hearts" - Review

Poor Regina. She's so conflicted and yet, when she does the right thing, no one remembers to include her in the after-party. I'm not sure what I think about her whole thing with being easily manipulated by Gold. Like, yes, your mother is a raging bitch who'll destroy everything, but you were doing the exact same thing so... what? I really don't want her to go all dark-side again, that would be annoying.

I really hope this isn't the last we see of Aurora and Mulan. I want to see whether or not they manage to find Phillip's soul and save him. However, I'll probably be angry if they actually do it. They're going to go from busom buddies to hating each other over him. That, I won't like. I do find it interesting that Hook gives Mulan Aurora's heart. Very interesting little thing there...

Hook is a clever bastard. I'm both sad he went dark-side and glad he did. I'm not sure how I'd actually react to a "good" Hook. It's interesting that he knows Regina, though. I thought it was quite nice how that was introduced. Of course he'd figure out about Belle and go to "rescue" her. Of course she'd be incredibly nonchalant about just going and talking to Rumple in order to stop him. Of course he'd be perfectly happy running off to go kill Cora. However, his loyalties seriously need some work. Why does anyone trust him at this point? Seriously?

Speaking of Cora... yes, everyone was right, she was the Queen of Hearts. Of course she was the Queen of Hearts! rolleye0011 Free Emoticons Rolling Eyessign0029 Free Sign Emoticon That was so obvious I'm disappointed they did it at all. I do find it interesting that she keeps her heart where no one can find it. That had to be painful getting it out herself...

That's all I have to say about the episode, really. I was really enjoying it and I can't wait till it comes back in January.

My nephew is coming next week. We've been in crazy prep mode all week and that's part of the reason I haven't blogged. I needed some relaxing time after the crazy. So... yeah. I'm gonna try to watch Supernatural, Arrow, and The Vampire Diaries tonight... probably won't happen, but I'm hoping it will. I will definitely post reviews once I watch stuff so... look out for that.

I've posted some new stuff to my DeviantArt (My Art up in the navigation bar)... another reason I've been having crazy lately. Go look at that if you want.

Again, I'm sorry about the funky schedule, but... if I don't do it this way for now, I'm gonna go crazier than usual. Thank you so much for reading. Don't forget to leave me comments and follow me on Twitter. Link for that in the sidebar. happy0148 Free Emoticons Happy

Arrow - "Muse of Fire" - Review

If you have not seen episode 7, "Muse of Fire" of Arrow and do not wish to be SPOILED, leave the blog NOW. I will be starting the review directly after this statement.

I don't really have a lot to say about the bulk of this episode. It was a tool for getting Olly and Helena together, rekindling the relationship thing going on with Olly's mom and Tommy's dad, and for getting Thea and her mother to realize that Olly's changed. That said, I liked it. The rest of my comments are about characters and actors/actresses.

One name popped into my head as soon as the female assassin took off her helmet: Helena Bertinelli. I then spend the next couple of minutes/seconds/however long it was until the reveal telling myself not to jump to conclusions. Turns out, I was right. I've always kind of been a fan of Huntress, mostly because of her connection to the Bat-family and because of the Birds of Prey series that got cancelled. I quite like Helena here, too. The actress reminds me simultaneously of Michelle Ryan and Rachel McAdams. This is a nice take on the Helena Bertinelli character and I hope she sticks around for a while. Olly needs someone other than Diggle to talk to.

Next up, Mr. John Barrowman. I love John Barrowman, as I might have said in an earlier review. However, after years of having him as Captain Jack Harkness through Doctor Who and Torchwood, seeing him play someone Jack could possibly have turned into was a little... weird. It's not that I can't separate the actor from the character, it's just that sneaky thoughts keep sliding into my head. Like I said, Mr. Merlyn could very well have been someone Jack Harkness could have turned into despite the fact that he didn't. And Gah! He's Tommy's father?! That explains how he got into the Queen's house undetected, or rather, unchallenged. That seriously threw me for a loop.

It was also nice seeing Tahmoh Penikett as a bad guy for once. He's quite believable in the role and sort of melted into it. At least I was able to separate him more from Helo and Paul Ballard than I was with Barrowman and his past character...

As for the Helena/Olly romance, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do think Olly needs someone other than Diggle to talk to, as I said before, I'm just not sure another unstable person is the right choice.

Overall, this episode was pretty awesome, I enjoyed it. I liked the whole Helena with the cross thing and that she wore a purple dress throughout most of the episode. It was almost screaming Huntress. I liked Olly's sudden spring into action when his mother was injured. I liked Tommy and Laurel being cute together. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Housekeeping
I'm almost done with my nephew's dresser project. Got the last drawer detail painted today and uploaded a pic onto DeviantArt, if you'd like to see it.

I am planning to watch The Vampire Diaries tonight, but I'm not sure if that's gonna happen as my mother is just now cooking dinner. May of may not have a review for that up tomorrow... we'll see.

It's Okay

I'm feeling a little, I dunno, preachy? Inspirational? I don't know, just bear with me.

One of my friends, an old boyfriend actually, posted a clip from Breaking Dawn Part 2 on his Facebook and essentially said he didn't need the context, nor did he want it. I commented that the clip was creepy in context. He took this to mean I'd missed his point to which I said: Not really, I'm just making it seem that way.

I'm not sure exactly why this got me thinking about how it's okay to be yourself or what I want to say to anyone I'm a role model for, but it did. And because I'm thinking about it, I want to write about it. And because this isn't something I think needs to be sitting around on my computer or in a journal, I thought I'd post it here.

Basically, this amounts to a bunch of random thoughts beginning with "It's Okay To" and some other stuff... so... feel free to read, interpret, share, whatever. I do not want hate-mail or whatever from this because that sort of thing is pointless.

It's okay to talk to people.
It's okay to be shy. It's okay to be scared.
It's okay to be a Brony.
It's okay to like Star Wars. It's okay to not like Star Wars.
It's okay to say "no." It's okay to say "yes." It's okay to say "I don't know."
It's okay to like whatever you like, don't let anyone tell you different.
It's okay to be gay. It's okay to be straight. It's okay to be a gay Republican.
It's okay to go against the grain.
It's okay to cry, even if it makes your eyes feel weird.
It's okay to like Twilight. It's okay to like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. It's okay to like Anne Rice. It's okay to like all of these at the same time. My bookshelf once had a Laurel K. Hamilton novel on top of The Twilight Saga next to a bunch of Anne Rice books all on top of various manga and other random books including Buffy, Doctor Who, X-Men comics, and a few sci-fi titles.
It's okay to be crazy. It's okay to be calm.
It's okay not to "lol" when you type "lol."
It's okay to be a nerd. It's okay to be a geek.
It's okay to love animals.
It's okay to have crushes on fictional characters.
It's okay to have tattoos.
It's okay to paint. It's okay to draw. It's okay to write. It's okay to cover your room in posters and paint.
It's okay to grow your hair out or cut it.
It's okay to have stuffed animals when you're an "adult."
It's okay to play games.
It's okay to like TV shows.
It's okay to mix and match.
It's okay to be weird.
It's okay to like food. It's okay to not like food, so long as you try it first.
It's okay to be an "adult" and still be active in the online communities you were when you were a "kid" or a "teenager."
It's okay to be a little bit obsessive.
It's okay to make references only you get. It's awesome if other people get them, too.
It's okay to say something stupid. It's okay to think about it years later and wonder why you said it.
It's okay to lose your train of thought.
It's okay to continue later.
The only thing it's not okay to do is hate, in any form or fashion. Hatred tears people apart, as corny as that sounds. But it's true, so don't do it.

Which basically means I've apparently got all the thoughts out of my head on this subject so... that's it from me.

"Into The Deep" - Review

Just gonna jump right into this and not put in a separating header until the Housekeeping section so... SPOILER WARNING if you haven't seen this week's episode of Once Upon a Time.

I really enjoyed this episode despite it being, as I said Sunday night, really predictable. I did not believe Hook when he told Aurora he was rescuing her, I thought he was going to double cross her, which he essentially did. I knew Charming was going to get stuck in the dream/curse, that was obvious. I figured Henry was going to go to sleep even as Charming was going in... but that didn't happen, which I liked. Henry's being less of an annoying snot than he usually is, which is good.

However, Henry's view on magic is driving me nuts. "Oh magic is bad, but if you're using it to help people, that's okay." Gah! He needs to get off Regina's back about it. If she's truly on the path to redemption she'll do it however she does it whether he likes it or not. Meaning: let the woman use the damn magic already and stop being a judgmental little jerk. Regina was cool during this episode. I like how her character has changed and I think I like where she's going.

I liked Aurora's character a lot in the episode. She was more selfless than she has been and I liked that she'd been planning to go to Storybrooke with Emma and Snow. I really liked her telling Cora off about Phillip. She's been grieving in her own way, that much is obvious. I'm sad that Cora's got her heart now, though. That's going to be heart-wrenching (excuse the pun) when Emma, Snow, and Mulan find out.

Speaking of Mulan, I really wanted to slap her. She seriously thought Emma and Snow were just going to let Aurora stay in Cora's grasp? Really? Has she not been around them since they landed in Fairytale Land? Has she not seen how ridiculously unselfish they are? The fuck, Mulan? Seriously? On another note concerning this... I'm totally shipping Aurora/Mulan. Mulan's actions are more than just a debt to Phillip, I just know it.

All together, this episode was stellar for something so predictable. The character moments were good, everyone was on top form. The only thing (other than Henry) that I'm getting tired of is Snow and Charming and their "You found me. No, you found me. We'll always find each other." shctick.

Okay so... it's officially the Holiday season and all the shows are either wrapped up or are wrapping up until January. This means I'll have less to blog about... unless you'd like reviews on old TV shows, which I doubt so... I'm going to be cutting back. Instead of Initial Reactions for any remaining episodes of things, I'll just have the reviews. I'm also going to be blogging only a couple days a week for the remainder of the year.

  • My nephew's due next month so there's that.
  • Neopets is starting their annual Advent Calendar in three days.
  • Christmas... which I probably won't blog on, but it's there anyway.
  • Holiday shopping

I'm back!

Rejoice, for I have returned! I'm mostly over the sick that was dragging me down last week... hope all my American readers had a great Thanksgiving and possible Black Friday madness. But now, if you have not seen tonight's episode of Once Upon a Time, kindly either skip down to the Housekeeping section or go away entirely. The choice is yours, but SPOILERS abound in tonight's Initial Reactions.

Once Upon a Time - "Into the Deep" - Initial Reactions

  • Oh look, it's Cora, how annoying.
  • Where'd she get a parasol?
  • Lots of flip-flopping there, Hooky.
  • Obvious that wasn't going to work, Hook.
  • Zombie time!
  • She really wasn't lying, that was just not saying anything.
  • Poor Aurora.
  • Regina would be somehwat skeptical.
  • Dun dun dun.
  • Lol, extra pickle-y goodness without dark magic.
  • Lol, close down the diner for a potential cat-fight.
  • Awkward...
  • Yeah really, let her be a little badass.
  • Yay, little cat-fights are fun.
  • It was something very not good was what that was.
  • Bandits?
  • Nice shooting, Snow.
  • Nope, those is some zombies.
  • They stole Aurora...
  • Owwwwwwwww....
  • And now Aurora's in the pit.
  • Heroes do strange things sometimes and Cora knows that.
  • She might have, and manipulation is fun...
  • Your manipulation was super obvious, Cora.
  • Geez, Charming. Also, that's the quietest Henry's been in a while.
  • Hook's rescuing Aurora?
  • Hmmm... I can't help but think about Hook's weirdness.
  • Or spend time standing around talking when there's a TIME ISSUE!
  • Why are we blaming Regina again?
  • Ugh! This ridiculous not using magic crap. Henry's too black and white... oh, but it's okay if she helps people with it. Bah!
  • Pretty curse-potion is pretty.
  • Henry's gonna try to do it anyway, because he's a pest.
  • Spindle!
  • Good job the powder didn't drift.
  • The room with no doors isn't a room, it's the torch.
  • I would've risked Henry, it would have been so much simpler and less risky.
  • Pick up the necklace, stupid.
  • And I'm wrong, as usual.
  • Stop wasting time!
  • I'm pissed off at you. - Snow's totally thinking that.
  • Whoops. Fail.
  • Well now we gotta wait...
  • Except stuff has gone horribly wrong, like everyone knew it would, which is why the plan was stupid.
  • Where's Mulan?
  • Way to not notice, Emma.
  • What is it?
  • And that was super obvious... wohoo...
  • Well that sucks.

After Thoughts

New section I'm starting up that may or may not happen all the time, but I have a little bit of ranting before the review that should be up tomorrow. I predicted the "heart" thing and the "Charming's stuck" thing. Mind you, I thought Cora was going to be the one to grab Aurora's heart, but I still called it! Charming being stuck, well, that was incredibly obvious. You gotta have a kiss OUTSIDE the spell not DURING the spell. Bah!

Housekeeping

So, last week while I was sick I did some painting. One of my little sisters, Robyn, is having a baby next month and he will need somewhere to put his clothes. We have this old chifferobe that was mine and Robyn's when we were kids and that's what he'll be using. I'm currently two drawers away from finishing the project to make it match his room/theme. If you're interested in seeing my progress, check out my DeviantArt via the "My Art" link up in the navigation bar. Or click this handy link RIGHT HERE.

I've made the decision NOT to review the episodes of Arrow, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic that I missed/watched later from the week before last/yesterday. Sorry about that. Might get to them later, might not. You just never know.

Meantime, don't forget to comment down below and follow me on Twitter and on DeviantArt, if you like. Don't forget to be awesome!

Vampires, Hexenbiest, and Ponies

I'm going to start out with a big fat SPOILER WARNING for anyone who has not seen last week's Grimm or My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. And also, if you haven't seen Breaking Dawn Part 2, go away. There will be SPOILERS! Also, there is a small instance of profanity. If you'd like, though, you can just skip down to the Housekeeping section to find out what I'm doing these next couple of days.

Grimm - "Season of the Hexenbiest" - Review

I think I forgot how much I liked Adalind running around messing with people. She's a giant slimy bitch, but she's fun to have around. I liked that we got a lot of Monroe this episode, he made me laugh. He also has a semi-permanent room for Nick, which is cool. And speaking of, the whole Nick/Juliette/Renard thing has really heated up and I'm glad we got to see more of Juliette having issues because of it. Her picking at the Wessen thing is nice, I hope she gets to be let in on the big secret soon.

Altogether, I really enjoyed this episode. I want more!

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - "Too Many Pinkie Pies" - Review

I was left with the overwhelming urge to slap Twilight Sparkle, and everyone else for that manner, a few times. It was SO OBVIOUS that the sad Pinkie was the real Pinkie! Twilight even tells Spike "They all say they're the real Pinkie." Only, the real Pinkie didn't so... that's gotta be the real one, duh? I wasn't really enamored with this episode, but it was kinda fun initially.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - Review

This was my first time seeing a Twilight movie in a room full of fans and that definitely had an impact on my enjoyment of this movie. Overall, the acting was much improved from the beginning and it was further underscored by my little sister and I having watched New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn Part 1 the night before. I really, really enjoyed this movie.

I love, love, loved the vision Alice shared with Aro. I'd known it was coming, but I got sucked into it anyway. One of the guys sitting behind my sisters and I was like "I was getting into it!" after the vision ended. The action during that scene was awesome and thoroughly satisfying. I think my favorite bit was Alice dragging Jane to Sam to get her comeuppance.

Of the new characters introduced, I enjoyed Benjamin and Garrett the most, just like I did in the books. Benjamin was just a blast of fresh air into an almost entirely uptight cast of newcomers. Favorite bit with Benjamin: his first appearance. That was just epically awesome. Garrett totally made my day in the few scenes he got to be in. He was funny and entirely genuine. My favorite part with him was around the campfire as he commended Liam on an awesome revolution. I laughed.

I really liked that we didn't stay home with Bella and Edward like we did in the books. Traveling with the others and even getting a glimpse at what the Volturi were doing made the story feel just that much more epic. Favorite part of traveling: Emmett and Rosalie picking up Garrett. Garrett telling his prey to shut up had me loving him instantly.

There were a couple of things that bug me about the movie versus the book, though. First off, Bella twigged about the Merchant of Venice book immediately in the book, but here it seemed to take forever. Second, there wasn't enough interaction between Bella and Renesmee. Kristen Stewart seemed kind of fake in a couple of the scenes she had with Renesmee simply because the interaction wasn't there. I was especially sad Renesmee wasn't in the scene where Kate, Garrett, Emmett, and Edward were teaching Bella to shield properly. The entire reason Bella got her shield extended in the books was because Renesmee was in "danger" from Kate. Another niggle: Seth didn't break any bones. When he leapt between Bella and Jacob, her was supposed to have gotten his shoulder broken. But no, he just shook it off like being thrown really hard into a tree was nothing. What?

Anyway, I do believe Breaking Dawn Part 2 is my favorite in the series. I will definitely be watching it a few times after it's on DVD.

Housekeeping

Uhmm... yeah... I was gonna watch Arrow last night but my computer decided it didn't like Flash Player for no reason. I should be getting both Arrow and The Vampire Diaries watched in the next couple of days. Meantime, I'm going to be painting my nephew's chifferobe and working on redoing/doing some fanfiction covers for my stuff on fanfiction.net. I've already redone the one for Heat Wave, if you wanna go have a look...

I'm Such A Bad Blogger

Okay so... hi.

I realize I haven't been around at all this week... ya know, after Monday. I also haven't watched Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, and probably won't watch Grimm tonight. Part of this is due to food being prepared at my house at odd times. Part of this is due to a cross-stitching project I started. And part of it is watching tons of Sea Quest DSV.

This weekend, my littlest sister is coming into town. We're having a Twilight Saga marathon in preparation for going to see Breaking Dawn Part 2. I'm pretty excited about it. I also probably won't be blogging about it until way after the fact.

So... that's it from me right now.

Once Upon a Time - Child of the Moon - Review

SPOILER WARNING and also a bit of profanity, because things made me angry...

Once Upon a Time - "Child of the Moon" - Review

I am firmly of the belief that if the fairy tale villians would just stop trying to get revenge, they'd be a lot happier. Take King George, for instance. Had he not been a complete asshole to James/Charming after the marriage to Abigail fell through (and a bit before that) he would currently have an adopted son, daughter in-law, granddaughter, and great grandson. He might even have gotten on splendidly with Charming's mother. But instead, he decided to be an asshole bent on ruining the life of someone who essentially did nothing to him. It's not Charming's fault George's wife died/was barren. It's not Charming's fault James was murdered. It's not really Charming's fault Abigail was in love with someone else. I'll grant that it's Charming's fault Abigail didn't marry him, but that shouldn't have resulted in a beheading and rescue by Regina! The only thing Charming did after that was take back the kingdom with Snow. And we're not even sure if that was Regina's kingdom or George's kingdom!

But anyway... I really enjoyed this episode. Ruby/Red has always been one of my favorite characters and it was great to see an episode all about her. I'm not so fond of the younger Red, but she was okay. The CG wolves were the best I've seen on TV, despite being crap when you look at other CG examples. I was okay with Red's mother until she turned on Snow. I'm kinda glad she's dead, though they could have done something more with her. I liked Gus for all of the short amount of time we got to see him for. Gus was my favorite of Cinderella's mice friends in the movie.

Other important plot bit time! Henry and Aurora's dream thingy. I find it interesting that Henry got burned but Aurora doesn't seem to be injured by the dream. I also find it suspicious that Rumple is taking the price for Henry's little amulet/potion necklace. What's so special about Henry that Rumple's willing to do that? Maybe Henry reminds him of Balefire or something...

Anyway, awesome episode. Lots of stuff to chew on and mull over until next week.

Once Upon a Time - Initial Reactions

Once Upon a Time - "Child of the Moon" - Initial Reactions
  • Ouch.
  • You're bringing Henry to an accident site? Seriously?
  • Gus? Really? Wow...
  • Nice save, Belle.
  • This is where you take the coffee away from him, Charming.
  • Ya know, he could have just adopted Charming instead of being an ass to him.
  • Good girl, Red.
  • Nice tag teaming there, ladies.
  • Nother wolf!
  • Oh noes!
  • The dream!
  • Ouch, again!
  • Secret underground lairs are bound to be bad... but this one looks quite cozy.
  • Suspicious lady is suspicious!
  • Daww... poor Ruby.
  • You call Gold for that?
  • Did he say Neverland?
  • Control doesn't necessarily mean no fear.
  • This is not going to end well, David.
  • Pretty good for TV CG wolves.
  • Oh look, an angry mob.
  • You didn't expect him to keep here there, did you?
  • Well now, this is interesting...
  • Lol, Belle.
  • You're gonna turn yourself in, Red? Seriously? Don't do that!
  • Oh look, it's the hood!
  • Of course it is. George is an asshole.
  • And this is where Red decides the wolf pack isn't such a good idea.
  • Good choice, Red.
  • You just don't get those angry mobs nowadays.
  • Come on, Ruby.
  • Good girl! You're so cute!
  • So how did Granny end up on the ground?
  • Not the totally messed up hat!
  • King George is a giant asshole. If he'd made a few better choices, he would be able to spend time with his son and grandson...
  • What's the symbol on the gravemarker mean?
  • Yeah really, David.
  • Shouldn't she have turned instantly without the cloak?
  • Why is no one watching over Aurora?
  • BOOM.

Review Time!

I spent a large chunk of last night watching episodes on my computer and I have some reviews for you. If you have not seen last week's Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, or Grimm, you should go read something else or just skip down to the Housekeeping section because there will be SPOILERS.

Supernatural - "Southern Comfort" - Review

Garth is back! I quite like the dynamic of Garth with Sam and Dean. I also quite like the way the specter got Dean to air his issues with Sam, which was already knew most of. Sam's issues with Dean were more interesting than Dean's issues with Sam, although I'm more interested in Sam's girlfriend than his stuff about Benny. I like that Garth has taken up Bobby's mantle, although the way he goes about things is... interesting, to say the least. Pretty solid episode, all around. Glad they're getting closer to the first season-y stuff in terms of episode structures. I'm enjoying Supernatural much more now than the last couple of seasons. I think the show works better in a "monster of the week" structure than focusing solely on story-arc.

The Vampire Diaries - "The Killer" - Review

Pretty much business as usual here. Everyone is keeping secrets from everyone else and this causes problems. Not much new here, the exceptions being Bonnie using magic again and Elena having hallucinations. This episode was pretty much a placeholder. Plot movement was essentially limited to Klaus getting the sword and Damon being let in on "the cure" secret. I am so very, very glad Elena killed Connor. So glad. However, the repercussions caused by Elena's conscience is... annoying. I still think she needs to get over herself and deal with what she is now. Living in the past is just going to cause her more issues than the past is worth. Also, I'm angry at Jeremy now. Not even two minutes after he tells Matt he's tired of secrets, he starts keeping one. Seriously, Jer? Seriously? Anyway... I enjoyed watching this episode. The action was fun, even if the rest of the storyline was business as usual.

Grimm - "To Protect and Serve Man" - Review

You know you watch too much fantasy/horror stuff when pits of decomposing bodies don't phase you at all. However, the bit with the foot in the stew went too far. That said, this was an interesting take on the Wendigo. Also an interesting episode overall. Different, but good.

I'm glad we got some more character building with Hank. I also liked the development on the Juliette/Renard stuff. Looks like the cat's out of the bag as far as Monroe knowing Juliette is involved with Renard. It also looks like Juliette is going to find out about the Grimm stuff sooner rather than later.

Housekeeping

As you may have noticed, it's Sunday, which means this should be some Once Upon a Time Initial Reactions. As you may also have noticed, it's not that. I should be watching Once Upon a Time tonight. I should be doing Initial Reactions for it. At least, that's how it stands right now. If that does happen, there will be an additional blog post up tonight. If it doesn't... well... I guess it just doesn't.

My Little Pony - The Crystal Empire

Sooo... I did not get around to watching what I said I was gonna watch... which is normal. I will watch the episodes of stuff, but... I've been listening to podcasts, painting rooms, going shopping, and generally just not watching stuff this week. I did, however, get to watch the new episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

If you have not watched todays episodes, there are going to be SPOILERS in my review. If you don't care about ponies, please just leave this post now and go away. I don't want to hear about how much you dislike ponies or the fandom. Thank you. ^_^

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - "The Crystal Empire Parts 1 and 2" - Review

I love love love love love love love love love love love love love these episodes! I was so glad they brought back Princess Luna *cough* BEST PONY *cough*, Shining Armor, and Princess Cadance. I really liked the transformations of the Crystal Ponies back into their rightful forms. I liked how the ponies of Equestria got some crystal forms for a little bit. They were so pretty! I even liked King Sombra, for all his not-entirely-threatening-I'm-a-cloud-of-darkness appearance.

Did anyone other than me want to smack Rainbow Dash several times during the episodes? She was so mean to that pony she was questioning! She was also pretty ridiculous following that one pony around the fair when it was obvious the pony didn't want her around at all... and then scaring the Crystal Ponies away from the crystal/non-crystal heart. And finally with Fluttershy! Seriously, Dash? Couldn't have asked for a volunteer since Fluttershy obviously didn't want to joust with you?

Anyway... enough about Dash. King Sombra's weird door reminded me of the Harry Potter boggarts! Twilight Sparkle's worst fear is essentially Hermione's boggart. Complete rejection by Princess Celestia with the failure. I... don't exactly remember what Spike's was... but the concept was essentially the same.

Speaking of Spike, I'm glad he finally got to save the day for once. Go Spike! He's my favorite dragon. winking0006 Free Emoticons Winking

Uhm... last thing: Fastball Special Princess Cadance Style! That. Was. Awesome! I laughed when Shining Armor picked her up. It's like, what are you doing, silly. Oh... she apparently can't take off on her own, I get it.

But yeah... I loved this episode and I'm so excited ponies are back! I can't wait till next week!

Arrow - Damages

I really gotta stop saying I'll watch stuff. My random non-schedule keeps messing up my plans. I didn't get to watch The Vampire Diaries tonight, hopefully will do that tomorrow. I did, however, get to watch Arrow. So here's my review of that.

Arrow - "Damages" - Review

I quite liked this episode. We got more of Olly's time on the island back-story, we got some of Diggle helping Olly, and we got more of Detective Lance being a giant jerk. I find the storyline with Mrs. Queen interesting, especially since John Barrowman's playing her evil-cohort-guy. I think the island bits were interesting. It was nice to see Olly's first shot with the bow. The only thing I would have changed was Slade's/Deathstroke's mask. (I'm just gonna call him Slade cuz of my Teen Titans history.) What was up with that thing? It looked like it was made of foam.
Diggle as "The Hood" was interesting. I'm not sure I'll look forward to more of that. It's just a little too... I dunno, weird. However, if we get more of Diggle doing some tracking and whatever, that'll be awesome.
Detective Lance seriously needs to take a nice big handful of chill pills. He's coming across as annoying, more than anything else. I did like that he saved Olly's life, though his reason for knowing Olly was in danger was a little... off. The ankle bracelet didn't seem to be too terribly damaged when he took it off.
I don't usually mention my favorite lines, but I thought of this while typing the next paragraph so... when Olly said to Diggle: "Well, you know us billionaire vigilantes, we love our toys." I had to pause the episode because I was laughing so hard. It's so true! Him and Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. Geeze!
Overall, "Damages" was another bulls-eye for the Arrow series. I found it really enjoyable and everyone was on top form, acting-wise. the story-lines are wonderful, I can't wait to see how this all pans out.

Housekeeping

Not gonna promise anything, but I should be finishing up this week's episode of Supernatural, maybe doing a little review on it and last week's. I should also be watching The Vampire Diaries tomorrow, might have a review of that up. I MIGHT also be doing a review of Merlin, since I've finished the first three seasons.

And that's pretty much it from me tonight. Have a great day tomorrow!

Love ya, Jessie.

I Am Really Pissed Off Right Now

Okay so... I got in a fight with my mom today, about an hour ago. I'm still pissed off about it. So pissed off, in fact, about the entire, repeated, situation that I've decided to write this blog post about it. It's essentially a rant so if you'd like to just skip down to the Housekeeping section, I completely understand. If you're looking for an Arrow Initial Reactions thing-y, that not happening tonight. I was too pissed off to watch.

My Mother and the Great Cooking Debacle

Let me start out by saying that I love to cook. Sometimes I may not be in the mood to cook, but I still like doing it when I am in the mood. I also like to try new recipes and combinations of things. Cooking and tasting the same old stuff is boring. To me, cooking is fun.

Add my mother to the mix, though... fun does not begin to describe it.

I have recently (tonight included) had two butting of heads with my mother over my cooking. Both instances resulted in me not cooking and being pissed off.

Instance 1: Queso

We buy cheese at Sam's Club. Sharp cheddar in a 5lb block. Perfect for slicing up for sandwiches and also for making you very tired of eating sharp cheddar. My solution for getting rid of some of the cheese: Make Queso. I look up several different recipes for Queso using chopped up sharp cheddar and start to prepare for chopping up said cheese.

My mom comes in before I've even got the knife ready for the cheese and vetos my making of Queso on the grounds of sour cream for Chili. Okay, fine. I tell her I'll make it later. Skip to later and I take her the recipes so she knows what I'll be doing. Nope, can't make Queso because I'm not making it with Velveeta. Cue anger.

Instance 2: Pierogies and Tortalini

My mom texts me this morning asking me to pull something out of the freezer for a dinner she's not going to be home for. I scan the freezer and pull out a bag of pierogies and a bag of meat-filled tortalini. My mom gets home around 4, I don't start dinner until around 6. She's still there, but getting ready to leave.

I've looked up recipes for a sauce I think would be good on both the pierogies and the tortalini and was boiling water when my mom tells me she's going to want dinner when she gets home. That's fine, I tell her what I'm gonna cook and ideas for how I'm going to cook it based on the packaging of the noodle-y stuff. She tells me I can't cook them together. Also fine, I'll just cook them separately and put this sauce over both.

Turns out, I apparently can't put this sauce over both these things because they're "not even close to the same thing." She tells me I can cook one of them and the sauce or both and two sauces, but not both and the one sauce. Cue anger.

She then grabs the bag of... pierogies, I think, and turns to put them in the freezer. Cue more anger. I'm really pissed off at this point and end up throwing the bag of tortalini into the sink and telling her I'm just not gonna cook since I apparently can't cook what I'd planned. She tells me to text my dad to tell him I won't be cooking dinner for him. I did. No problems there.

After I'd done that, my mom tells me I can cook two different kinds of tortalini if I want, but not the tortalini and the pierogies together. I tell her, angrily and half in tears, that I don't even know why I try to cook anything anymore, since I can't ever cook what I was planning to cook because she keeps critiquing my not-even-cooked food within an inch of its life.

What I Learned

I'm going to tell my mother "no" the next time she asks me to cook dinner... unless that dinner's coming out of a box.

Housekeeping

If you read through that... thanks, I guess. I know it's mostly drama. Tomorrow, I'll be watching Arrow and Supernatural... and hopefully The Vampire Diaries. Not sure on that last one because I have a friend coming over to help paint my nephew's room. Until then, have a great night.

Frankenweenie and the Beanstalk

Sorry I didn't get around to posting yesterday. I came home from the movies and then went out to dinner. By the time I got back to my computer, I was too exhausted to write anything coherent and I'd missed last night's Once Upon a Time. But I'm back now to give you SPOILERIFIC reviews of Frankenweenie and last night's Once Upon a Time.

Frankenweenie - Review

This movie told the story of Victor Frankenstein and how he brought his dog back to life... and the chaos resulting from this act. Frankenweenie wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be, but it was an okay watch. I could probably bear watching it again, but I wouldn't do so on my own.
Tim Burton once again brings to life a slew of characters who are both stereotypical and relatable. The life and death and life of Victor's dog Sparky was heartwarming, but the ensuing mess was little more than entertaining. The town's reaction to the reanimation of Sparky, the new science teacher, and Sparky's second "death" were really unbelieveable. The reaction to the other children's reanimated/mutated pets was more believable, but at the same time, there wasn't really much for them to do other than scream in terror. There was also no real explanation as to why the sea monkeys, which are really shrimp, turn into how they're pictured on the package, but evil or why the cat melded with the bat and became evil incarnate.
I found this movie enjoyable on the first watch, but falling apart the more I think about it.

Once Upon a Time - "Tallahassee" - Review

This episode was essentially back-story. Emma's back story. I was happy to see how things panned out, but I would very much like to know where August is in the present day. We know he somehow managed to send a postcard to Neal while in his wooden state. And that's pretty much it. He disappears after that. I wanna know where he went!
The Fairytale Land part of this episode was fun. Hook was being his charming, pirate-y self while still managing to come off a little womanizing. The giant wasn't really the most convincing, but I liked him well enough. Emma is incredibly jaded. So much so that she basically betrays Hook, which is only gonna make him mad, I think. Not really the best idea, there. Mulan came off okay, but she didn't really have much to do. I would like to know where she got the super-sword, though. Snow being motherly toward Aurora was nice.
I find it interesting that Aurora and Henry are having the same dream, just from opposite perspectives. Red room, red curtains, fire. Interesting side-effect to the sleeping curse. I wonder if their conciousnesses essentially hopped worlds while they were cursed and that explains where they ended up in their dream. However, I'd like to know why we haven't heard of Henry having this dream before. He talks at length about everything and yet there's not a peep about this weird dream.
Overall, I quite liked this episode. It's not my favorite of the season, but it was interesting. I like how things are panning out so far. Looks like next week is going to be awesome. An entire episode centered on Ruby/Red. I can't wait!

So... the Gaiaonline Halloween Event wrapped up last week. Sadly, the vampires lost. On another note, tomorrow is Election Day here in the US. Don't forget to vote, if you haven't already. I have so... yeah. Not gonna give you some diatribe about who you should vote for, but you should definitely vote.

Delusional

I had a great birthday, got some perler pony things done and hung out with my best friend. Today I got a package of ponies from a friend of mine and so I'm gonna spend some time later messing with those. Despite not doing an Initial Reactions post last night, I did get to watch The Vampire Diaries this morning. I also managed to watch Grimm tonight, so you get to read my Initial Reactions on that, assuming you actually read those. SPOILERS start now.

The Vampire Diaries - "The Five" - Review

Okay, uhm, that was interesting. The Five are interesting. Kind of like Slayers, except there are five of them, they're guys, and they have magical tattoos. I don't like them. I really, really don't like Connor. He can just go rot, get tortured by Klaus forever, and stay away from Jeremy.
Rebeka is seriously one of my favorite characters. She's got an essentially good heart under all the bitchy ruthlessness. Poor girl just has the worst luck. Although, there is the question of how she got cured of dying by werewolf venom. My sister even texted me about it when she watched this morning. I think it's because she's an Original, but I'm not sure.
Klaus... I'm so tired of Klaus. Like seriously, who treats their little sister like that? And he does it all the time, not just when she's done something stupid. And it's obvious he just wants his hybrids and Stefan's apparently going to let him. I'd rather Elena be a vampire and free of Klaus' ridiculousness than a walking blood bag for him. Seriously, Stefan, get with it!
And speaking of Elena, she seriously needs to suck it up. Her compassion gets in the way of her being a kick ass vampire. Either way she's going to hurt Stefan or Damon, probably both. And it's like she's got two switches: Compassion Switch and Humanity Switch. She was fine at the party until she saw Bonnie looking horrified. Screw Bonnie's horror and Elena's compassion. Just let the girl be a good vampire for once.
Overall, great solid episode. Lots of nice world-building. Lots of nice character stuff. I liked this episode.

Queen of the Damned - Movie - Review

As I said, this was my second viewing of Queen of the Damned. The first time I saw this movie, I liked it. Now that I've seen it a second time, it drags. A lot. The plot was sacrificed to the costumes, music, and horrid special effects.
I thought Stuart Townsend was a much better Lestat than Tom Cruise. However, he doesn't have a very good voice from narration. Jessie did not come off as someone Lestat would be at all attracted to and yet they walk off into the proverbial sunset together. They had absolutely no chemistry. Also, a lot of Jessie's motivation was lost during the adaptation. I wondered why she was there at all. Certainly the movie's story could have benefited in dropping that storyline all together.
The "vampire council" seemed really tacked on. Yes, Marius had actual reason for being there but we get no explanation as to who the rest of them are. There's also next to no explanation of Maharet's ties to Jessie or her family. It was like, suddenly: family tree and this family is who you are. Well who the hell are they? I mean, I know because I read Queen of the Damned but it's not explained at all.
Overall, I think Queen of the Damned suffers from too many plot lines and not enough explanation. Stuff that could have been dropped wasn't and anything that wasn't there but was mentioned made it confusing. As much as this is extremely cliched: the book was a hell of a lot better.

Extra Long Makeup Post - Reviews!

Okay so, I managed to catch up on everything today... except Beauty and the Beast. I have for you, a bevy of reviews to make up for my lack of actual content these past few days. So, we'll go in order of airing, starting with Arrow. Everything's labeled so you can just skip to the review you're looking for. SPOILERS abound so just watch out for that.

Arrow - "Lone Gunmen" - Review

I had a lot of fun watching this episode. I'm happy with the way the characters are being built up. I'm happy with the way Deadshot was portrayed. He wasn't over the top but he wasn't completely underplayed either. I'm coming to like Laurel's father more. He didn't come off as fake in this episode. Finally, I really like that Diggle now knows about Olly's "bat cave." This was another great episode of Arrow and I can't wait for tomorrow's episode!

    Supernatural - "Bitten" - Review

I didn't like this episode. I know they were trying something different, but I honestly don't think it worked.

The Vampire Diaries - "Rager" - Review

I seriously want to know what Klaus meant by "one of the five." What does it mean? Is Rebekah going to get healed? They just seemed to forget about her and all the vampires of her line. I'm thinking she's not going to be healed, but then how is she going to help April like she was trying to?
I'm really, really angry with Stefan. He needs to let either Damon or Caroline step in with Elena. He even said as much. If he's distracted, how is that going to help her? I'm glad at least Damon's going to take the initiative on that. Caroline being Stefan's... sponser, I guess... might be interesting. She really should be helping Elena, though.
I spent most of the episode cursing Stefan, but I did quite like this episode. Can't wait till Thursday's episode.

Grimm - "La Llorona" - Review

I know this episode was supposed to be creepy, but I didn't really find it that way. I was amused by the Munroe storyline. Serves those kids right for messing with him. Munroe's just so awesome. The main storyline was at least interesting. That there are ghosts in the Grimm universe is kind of cool. I like how they pulled that off. I like how Juliette was included in the story. I hope she doesn't freak out about the Wesen again. I mean, she'll freak out, I just hope it's not as bad as last time.

Mockingbird Lane - "Pilot" - Review

That was... interesting. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but I liked it. I was a fan of The Munsters when I saw it on reruns. This was quite a good re-imagining and quite funny, too. I loved it. The special effects were awesome and I quite liked the prosthetics they did. Grandpa in his beastial form was... strange. Giant bat-creatures are not meant to be shiny nor flesh-colored. The Mockingbird Lane Pilot was definitely worth the watch. If you've got some spare time or need some cheering up, give it a watch.

Once Upon a Time - "The Doctor" - Review

Absolute top of my unshared theories about Doctor Whale was true! Although during the episode I was faking myself out thinking he might be Oz for some reason... I did quite like how Frankenstein's universe was in black and white. It looked like it was right out of an old, better produced than in those days, movie. That Frankenstein's bother was his monster was strange but interesting.
Regina's story was somewhat predictable. Of course she's not going to just give up magic and of course it's going to be hard. That Henry was almost killed by zombie-Daniel because Frankenstein was trying to manipulate Regina was nice. Glad for him to actually be part of the plot and not just annoying kid...
I'm glad Emma's truth-sensing is back to normal. Hook's turning out to be more fun than I thought. Although how they're going to play out his crossing Cora... Jefferson's bit of story was awesome, too. His history with both Regina and Rumple was awesomely put together and well played out.
Overall, this was another solid episode. I was on the edge of my seat through most of the episode. Can't wait till next week!

    Housekeeping

Okay so... I'm very much looking forward to watching Arrow and Supernatural tomorrow. Also, I should be getting back on schedule this week. Should, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyway... have a nice day and thanks for reading.

    Another Quickie

Okay so, I'm exhausted. I also really don't have any motivation to write any of the reviews I should do. I should be back for real tomorrow. Well... hopefully. I have no idea.

    Just a Quickie

Okay so, the last couple days at my house have been crazy. I managed to watch Grimm OnDemand yesterday, but I really don't have time to review it at the moment. I loved it, though, I will say that.

I voted yesterday, I'm sure the relatives of mine who read this will be happy to hear it.

Tonight is my little sister's baby shower so I have to do a lot of cleaning today with very little help from anyone else in the house apparently. Which means I should really stop typing and get my butt out of bed and dressed and stuff. tongue0020 Free Emoticons Sticking Out Tongue

So... that's it from me for today, unless I manage to catch Once Upon a Time tonight... which isn't likely. mad0228 Free Emoticons Anger

The Vampire Diaries - "The Rager" - Initial Reactions

So I got to spend most of my day not at my house for once. The power went out and it'd have been too hot for my sister and I to stay. So, anyway... I have for you tonight, my initial reactions for The Vampire Diaries. There are SPOILERS if you haven't watched it.

The Vampire Diaries - "The Rager" - Initial Reactions

    • Sneaky Tyler is sneaky. But not so sneaky as to not get caught.
    • Okay, that was kinda gross.
    • Stefan has a motorcycle?
    • Oh! Werewolf venom. Weird.
    • Elena, you need to get some more people to feed you.
    • Klaus is back...
    • Geez, Klaus.
    • Frak, Rebekah.
    • That was mean, Elena.
    • Damn.
    • RVs don't count as homes. Nice.
    • Fail, Damon.
    • She really does.
    • This stinks of issues.
    • Cute, Damon.
    • And now for the Rebekah/Matt crap.
    • Geez, Mr. Hunter. You suck.
    • Need to use those vamp powers, Elena.
    • Jeremy's usually in it anyway.
    • Totally fixating.
    • This is where Klaus gets angry and bitchy.
    • Geez Rebekah. Way to be a giant bitch.
    • This is not a good thing. And suddenly Stefan.
    • I still think this should be Caroline coaching Elena.
    • Nice, Elena.
    • Now what's wrong?
    • Klaus, being an ass is not becoming.
    • And this is why you shouldn't be angsty if you're a vampire.
    • Nice setup, Damon. That's brilliant.
    • More vampire sex...
    • Oh crap. It was in the keg.
    • Yay hallucinations!
    • They gotta find some Elena blood.
    • Klaus knows!
    • BOOM!
    • Or just Klaus. So what does that say for Rebekah.
    • What are you doing, April?
    • They're going to be friends, sweet.
    • Yeah really, Damon.
    • So Caroline gets to step in finally!
    • Or she could be support for Stefan. mad0124 Free Emoticons Anger
    • She's been there barely a second. Geez.
    • Because Stefan's way CLEARLY isn't working.
    • Why'd you have to save the friggin HUNTER, Klaus?
That's all from me for tonight, I'm afraid.

Okay so, due to actually being on schedule with this blog and posting correctly, I have for you only my initial reactions for tonight's episode of Arrow. If you missed it, wait until later to read this post, there are spoilers.

Arrow - "Lone Gunmen" - Initial Reactions

    • Now he's got some weird waterfal thing going on? Or is it just raining?

    • Seriously, Diggle needs to be let in!
    • Who says "surfing the net" anymore?
    • Seriously, woman, get it together.
    • Ya know, this would be a lot less dangerous with a cable holding your ass up off the ground.
    • That's what you call good luck?
    • You really need to fold the brim of that hat, Olly.
    • Hmm... now we see what other connections Olly has.
    • Why's Diggle standing there?
    • Oh, because he's a security consultant and not just a body guard.
    • That's cute, Olly.
    • Ouch, Tommy.
    • Ouch, Thea.
    • Hold it together, Olly. Good boy.
    • Or, ya know, not.
    • Good on you, Laurel.
    • I would say he's gonna die, but since this is a flashback, that would be redundant.
    • It wasn't wrong, Tommy.
    • I really don't think it did. And neither does Olly.
    • Yay instincts.
    • Nice little gun there, Deadshot.
    • Yay awkward nerd!
    • How do you have all that crazy IT gear and not know how to break into a laptop?
    • How the hell did she end up bringing home a tiger? Or was that a random thing to get her to get rid of the cat?
    • She's a serious nerd. That's awesome.
    • Not sure how I feel about Green Arrow pulling Batmans all over the place.
    • A party with "entry stairs" wohoo.
    • Fail unit 5. Fail.
    • That was a crap cover-up, Olly.
    • Well this is fun. Nothing like a panic.
    • See, there's that cable I was talking about!
    • I do like how they did Deadshot's eye-thing. Looks cool.
    • Crap, Diggle got shot!
    • Black Ops guys on the non-deserted island, the plot thickens.
    • Diggle is in on it! W00T!

    Housekeeping

Tomorrow might bring a pair of blog posts or just one, depending on my mood. I will definitely have initial reactions for The Vampire Diaries and Beauty and the Beast, if nothing else. Hopefully, I'll have a review for tonight's Arrow, but I may not. Haven't decided yet.

    Supernatural Alphas

So... I said I'd let you guys know if I was going to be catching up on Supernatural so... I've caught up and here's my review of the first three episodes, followed by my review for the Alphas season finale.
THERE ARE SPOILERS. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Supernatural Season 8 Episodes 1-3 Review

I spent Sunday night, after Once Upon a Time of course, catching up on Supernatural. I have to say, I think I like where this season is going. The show seems to be less dark and depressing than it used to be, which I like. I spent a good chunk of time laughing, which I liked.
Character-wise, I'm interested in Benny's story. There's gotta be a reason he's so attached to Dean. Dean's head is back in the same, which is good. Sam seems to be back where he was during 1st season, wanting more than hunting. It was because of that characterization that I didn't really connect with him during the last few seasons. Kevin is something of a wet blanket despite his random bad-assery with the tricked-out church. Kevin's mom was awesome. She's not at all what I was thinking she'd be. Crowley... is Crowley. He's awesome. I do want Cas to come back, though. It's sad he seems to be stuck in Purgatory. I can't wait to see what they do with that.
I will not be doing Initial Reactions for Supernatural, though I will continue watching. Reviews will probably be random, impromptu, and much like this one unless something comes up I feel the need to talk/rant about.

    Alphas - "God's Eye" - Review

I am of the opinion that there's nothing really to discuss about this episode of Alphas. Say, a bit. Theorize, probably. But nothing really to discuss. This episode was essentially lots of action that went by in a blur.
We got three guys being knocked out/killed by the Alpha Gadget. One of them gets up and freaks out because of his new ability. Kat and Rachel find the guy and figure out they need Skylar. Skylar fixes the problem. New problem arises. Rosen walks around talking to a hallucination of Dani.
Gary's mom wakes up. Gary helps Rosen ineffectually. Team gets shot at. Skylar finds out she can't fix the problem within a problem. Hicks shoots Parish. Rosen gives the super annoying "If we kill him, we're no better than him" speech. Everyone gets knocked on their asses by the Alpha Gadget in Grand Central Station.
         Except Gary.
So we're left with the questions:
    • Which humans become Alphas and which die?
    • Are our team going to wake up with super abilities?
    • Why was Gary unaffected.
Guess we'll just have to wait until next season to figure it out. I think Gary's ability or his autism has something to do with him being unaffected by the Alpha Gadget. I can't wait to find out. Like I said, gotta wait for it. Hope they have a next season, because Alphas got really good during this season.

    Housekeeping

    Alphas - "God's Eye" - Initial Reactions

    • That was the wrong side of that car for him to have crawled out of.
    • You need to stay alive, dang it, stop being an idiot.
    • Who's this lady?
    • She's a weird Alpha.
    • Kat has a point.
    • Weird homeless guy.
    • And set it off early. Nice.
    • Homeless guy's an Alpha.
    • Parish is about to get pissed. And you're about to die, dude.
    • Or not.
    • I hate that song.
    • You did not let her down. She's dead, you can't let her down.
    • Gary's mom is awake but unresponsive.
    • Kat seriously has points.
    • That's a crap power to have.
    • Muttering to yourself is a horrible thing to do while walking down the street.
    • Well that's annoying.
    • And in a horrible disguise.
    • Yeah, Rosen, Gary doesn't mess around with semantics.
    • Oh, Gary. "I don't like horses. They look confused."
    • Mind-Dani is so blunt.
    • So... is Rosen hallucinating or being made to see Mind-Dani?
    • Being an idiot.
    • Is mind-Dani an Alpha ability?
    • happy0055 Free Emoticons Happy Gary's awesome.
    • Sylar - "It died with honor."
    • Well this is going to be interesting.
    • And he disappears in the crowd...
    • Seriously love Summer Glau's characters.
    • Everyone stop! The power went out!
    • Backup generators. Blowing all the plans.
    • Go Gary!
    • Hicks and Nina, back on!
    • That's always the thing people pick out of those angry conversations/rants.
    • I like when Kat remembers bits of info.
    • More mind-Danis.
    • How's that for an awkward elevator ride?
    • Awesome makeshift bomb!
    • Kat is awesome. End of story.
    • No saferoom for Rosen.
    • The Greater Good is BS.
    • Well then.
    • Time for Hicks to be too angry to function properly.
    • Someone who's gotten rid of a mass murderer for good?
    • Pretty much.
    • Save as many people as possible, that's a good plan.
    • Too late.
    • Gary's completely unaffected? What? Why?
    • Seriously. Why is Gary unaffected?
    • That's one heck of a cliffhanger.
Well there you have it, all my initial reactions for you to enjoy.

Once Upon a Time - "The Crocodile" - Review

My chores have been done for the day and I just can't get last night's episode of Once Upon a Time out of my head. So, I have for you a review.

Once Upon a Time - "The Crocodile" - Review

I very much liked this episode. Getting more back story on Rumple was brilliant. I think even more brilliant than the last bit of back story for him we got. I think combining it with Captian Hook/Jones' back story was great as well. However, my little niggle is the thing with the bean. It was sooooo obvious he'd moved the bean somewhere other than where he'd been holding it originally! That said, I did like the passage to Neverland. I really hope we get to see Neverland. That would be so awesome!
I'm glad we got to find out where Rumple's wife had run off to. I know people (not me, but I listen to podcasts so...) had been wondering. Milla was one of those characters who was very relocatable. She just wanted a better life... and that led to pirating. The only thing I fault her for is leaving her son. I don't like people who leave their children when there's really no need to.
I really enjoyed Belle's storyline in this episode, thought I found her utter lack of food knowledge a little much. I have a hard time believing she'd never had pancakes... I like that Belle is going to run the library and that she's striking out on her own. She really seems like a character who would get on fine once she's got a place to settle. I'm also glad she and Rumple have more or less worked things out. They're so wonderful together! That she got Rumple to explain himself to her is testament to that, I think.
I did not like Belle's father at all. He was ridiculously vengeful against Rumple. Like, what the hell, man? Yes, he's a horrible person. Yes, he essentially took your daughter from you. But dude, you made that deal with him and it's not entirely his fault. And the only attempt made to rescue her was made by Gaston. His solution was just... mean-spirited. Parents need to realize that their children have their own lives to live and it's their choice whether or not to love someone. Belle's dad just makes me so angry!
Okay, done with that now. On to my favorite part of the episode: Ruby. She was awesome in this episode. She was so nice to Belle and looked much better out of those skanky clothes she was in during first season. Her entire character during this episode made me extra proud to be a Ruby fan.
So... that's pretty much it from me about Once Upon a Time. Can't wait for next week and the creepy Regina story. I do miss her being her bitchy self. happy0148 Free Emoticons Happy

Once Upon a Time "The Crocodile" - Initial Reactions

Plain and simple, all I've got for you tonight are my initial reactions/commentary thingy I do.

Once Upon a Time - "The Crocodile" - Initial Reactions

    • First and foremost, based entirely on the previews, Hook looks a bit like David Tennant.
    • Aww... he's so sweet when he wants to be.
    • Well that was a freaky dream.
    • Yup, still doin the magics.
    • Hey, it's Helena from The L Word!
    • Now if that's not a guilt trip, I don't know what is.
    • Tell her!
    • Not taken. She went with them.
    • I don't like guys like Captain Jones.
    • Henry needs to pick up an axe and help.
    • Escaped out the window. Nice.
    • That guy's clothes look kind of anachronistic.
    • And he's a nerd. That's great.
    • Why do people want to live forever? I just do not understand this concept.
    • Ruby looks so much better now.
    • Perfect.
    • That's no good.
    • Yeah, really don't like guys like Captain Jones
    • Charming's so annoyed, it's funny.
    • happy0193 Free Emoticons Happy
    • Glad they're not using Pirate of the Caribbean music here.
    • Of course Captain Jones would lie about that.
    • Not so bad after all.
    • Daddy's not happy about that.
    • lol, yes he is!
    • Yes, she can, because she's awesome.
    • That hat's not a good idea. Nor those shoes.
    • Saw that one coming.
    • It's really not.
    • And now the truth has come out.
    • This is where Regina learned her tricks.
    • Rollercoaster of Doom!
    • Go Rumple!
    • Go Belle!
    • Yup, totally sweet when he wants to be.
    • And be a manipulative jerk along the way.
    • Glad you've realized that.
    • Or know what you've gone to do.
    • Dawww... happy0195 Free Emoticons Happy
    • He put it elsewhere... figures.
    • Neverland! Hooray!
    • And he's Smee!
    • Nice.
    • Neverland!!!! happy0192 Free Emoticons Happy
    • Teaming up with Cora, that's where he is.
    • "Sparkly dirt. Wonderful." - Hook is wonderfully sarcastic
    • She being? Regina?
