Doctor Who - "Into the Dalek" - Initial Reactions

Intro

First "proper" Peter Capaldi adventure. Annoying as all get-out Daleks to help welcome our new Doctor.  Not entirely looking forward to it.

SPOILER WARNING: Don't read if you haven't seen the episodes. Also don't expect to follow along... my thoughts are random.

Doctor Who - "Into the Dalek" - Initial Reactions

  • Oh joy, crashing space ship...
  • Hello Dalek mothership.
  • Bye bye little ship.
  • Oh look, you got rescued by the best ship in the universe.
  • Gotta love being held at gun-point.
  • Lol. Doctor gets to remind soldier of her manners.
  • How nice of you, soldiers.
  • And of course we gotta deal with a Dalek... So far, though, not bad.
  • Hello PE teacher.
  • You're creepy and annoying, Ms. Secretary person...
  • Kids are dumb. That's clearly a "yes."
  • Wow, Clara. Nice.
  • Awkward...
  • Also, Danny's not a PE teacher.
  • And now Danny's reminding me of Mickey...
  • Lol, Clara.
  • Lol, I thought they were going out for coffee...
  • Doctor, that's so weird... and there's the explanation.
  • Of course that's unhelpful.
  • A Dalek who wants to destroy the other Daleks. Sounds like Dalek Khan...
  • "Do I pay you? I should give you a raise." - Doctor
  • "I am a school teacher." - Clara
  • "I don't need armed babysitters." - Doctor
  • "Don't be lasagna." - Doctor
  • Honey I Shrunk The Doctor
  • So trippy.
  • So nice of the Daleks to build their armor with corridors.
  • So now we're naming it? Okay then... Rusty.
  • Yeah, don't shoot the living thing. Bad plan.
  • That was pragmatic of you, Doctor. I like that, actually.
  • Down the LED slide.
  • EWWWW
  • Daleks eat people? Well then. That's kind of cool.
  • So we get some quoting from the Dalek that's been re-purposed from Trek. Well then.
  • Rusty is watching you and you have no idea...
  • I think you've been played there, Doctor.
  • You fixed the Dalek too much.
  • Slow mo was not necessary there...
  • I love it when things don't go right and people freak out when they were perfectly aware they might have gone wrong.
  • So now what are we doing?
  • Memory banks. W00T.
  • You've gone and made me tear up, Gretchen Allison Carlyle.
  • Oh look, TARDIS save once again... or else Missy the insane woman. Damn.
  • I am generally unaffected by the Daleks massacring people... seen it fifteen jillion times too many.
  • Science!
  • Yup. Of course the Dalek would focus on that.
  • Goodbye, Daleks...
  • You turned the Dalek into a kind of Hitler...
  • And that's at least the second time a Dalek has said that to him...
  • She's going to try to go with them?
  • And that's where he's saying "no."
  • I'm slightly disappointed for her.
  • "I think you try to be and I think that's kind of the point." - Clara
  • Oh geez. That dress on Clara in the preview is awesome.

Doctor Who - "Deep Breath" - Initial Reactions

Intro

So... I seriously suck at keeping my blogging promises. Work and non-thinking online activities and chores and shopping keep doing that thing where I end up not wanting to, forgetting, or just not blogging.

However, today marks the return of Doctor Who to our television screens. So I'm doing an Initial Reactions post... which may or may not be the first of the season... meaning I want to do one every week, but I might have to work or something. So there's that...

Watching the final moments of "The Time of The Doctor" while I'm typing this. Probably gonna cry a little bit losing Matt again... because I've been watching BBC America all day. Really looking forward to Capaldi's take. From the small amount I've seen, he's awesome, which I never doubted for a moment. So on to the Initial Reactions! (There are spoilers)

Doctor Who - "Deep Breath" - Initial Reactions

  • Ick, pre-show... which I was randomly hoping they'd decided to skip that... Let's just pretend we didn't watch that... because I don't wanna...
  • I cannot express how much I am irritated by this pre-show. Good God, just give me my Doctor Who. >:(
  • Dinosaur in London. Probably not a good thing.
  • Oh hey, Paternosters!
  • A choking dinosaur? Oh hey, TARDIS. Poor girl.
  • Well who else would it be, Vastra?
  • And of course The Doctor is really confused.
  • Something always goes wrong with regeneration.
  • Awwwwwwwww.... Handles... T_T
  • The Paternosters don't know about regeneration? Or at least Jenny doesn't?
  • Oooohhh!!! Shiny new titles! That's awesomesauce! New music, too. Awesome!
  • Vastra is awesome in this scene. It's cute.
  • "No dear, people are apes. Men are monkeys." - Vastra
  • Poor Clara.
  • And I just have the "Aw cute"s for Jenny and Vastra. ^_^
  • Sleep translations. That's cool... unless it's not translations...
  • Aw, Strax. Funny as ever misunderstanding humans.
  • Well who's cyborg guy? Bad guy, obviously.
  • Well go school Clara why don't you, Vastra?
  • Now what are you smelling for, Doctor?
  • I'm with Clara on this one. Shush, Vastra.
  • Lol, Jenny. Good going with that. Vastra has horribly wicked tests for Clara.
  • Why is the dinosaur on fire? Why? Poor thing!
  • Ouch. Poor Doctor.
  • Well okay then... that's one way to use a sonic.
  • The carriage bleeps? Don't know how to feel about that.
  • Ooh! Poor Clara.
  • I imagine a Victorian household would be rather boring...
  • What is his gadget?
  • Well geez, Strax. Way to suck at pep talks.
  • Interesting wandering down regeneration lane...
  • Yay for the Scottish Doctor.
  • I think Jenny looks rather amazing in that outfit.
  • Ya know, for someone who's seen all the Doctor's faces, she's really judgmental of his behavior.
  • Fancy schmancy restaurant. Hello Doctor.
  • Oh well then. Neither of them placed the ad. How confusing... without time travel.
  • Automatons!
  • Evil automatons are incredibly creepy. Listen to them tick...
  • Oh that's gross and creepy.
  • You're in the only colored booth in the entire place, of course it's an elevator.
  • He misses Amy. Lol.
  • Hello creepy Asian Automaton...
  • Oh crap, Clara's stuck... and The Doctor's just leaving her there. That's no good.
  • And now she's got to hold her breath. This is a difficult one...
  • Much tension on the getting out part... Poor, poor Clara...
  • Shit that's a lot of robots.
  • Still alive is a good sign.
  • Clever Clara.
  • Oh, that's disturbing...
  • Still not the right person.
  • Lovely Victorian Ninjas... with Strax... because the Paternosters are awesome.
  • Commercials really kill the tension...
  • Those poor policemen...
  • Oh joy, a ship inside a building...
  • Sounds very much like the clock-work droids...
  • Well that's because you parked the TARDIS in front of the portrait and then failed to look at the outside of the S.S. Madame du Pompadour. That's a clever re-imagining.
  • That's a clever way to get out of it, Clara.
  • So... who was lying then? That's the question...
  • No TARDIS. That's not good.
  • I love Vastra's dress.
  • Hooray, he's back. Which wasn't ever in question.
  • Let's reference "Day of The Doctor."
  • I LOVE IT!
  • Wha?! Oh. Yay time travel...
  • Oh geez. Much crying. And now Matt's making me miss him...
  • That's a new one.
  • Oh Doctor...
  • Hug time!
  • Well hello, Mr. Automaton. The frick is this nonsense?
  • Okay... insane woman much? Missy?
  • No really, WTF?

All The Time In The World

SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen the latest episode of Warehouse 13, please leave the blog and return later. Initial Reactions, like live Tweets, contain spoilers.

Warehouse 13 - "All the Time In the World" - Initial Reactions

  • Yay flashbacks.
  • Well that's an interesting artifact...
  • Huh, that was also interesting.
  • Yeah... that's not going to end well... especially according to the trailers.
  • Nice way to hold people captive.
  • Yeah... everyone underestimates people.
  • Really, Pete?
  • Oh hey, Anthony and James got to work together again. How amusing... especially considering "Tabula Rasa"...
  • Yep, gotta make sure we know that Constantinople and Istanbul are the same place...
  • Facial recognition software is always fun...
  • Yup, that would be part of that argument.
  • Lol, James Marsters with a mustache...
  • Good thing the Farnsworth is going first.
  • Yup, just move to the other side.
  • Hello Mrs. Fredrick.
  • Of course there would be restricted files.
  • I seriously don't like James with a mustache.
  • Why do we always have to bring up the email scam?
  • Hey, that's cool.
  • Aww... Artie gets left out.
  • The dog's a Methodist?
  • Ooookay then...
  • Yeah, that's a nice way to get immortal people out of weird places.
  • Ooooohhh.... that's really very not good.
  • She knows exactly where he is, I know it.
  • Poor Jinks.
  • Make you do what, Artie?
  • Wow. That's cool.
  • Well that sucks gigantically.
  • Oh, and it was a stick-on mustache. Not sure if that's worse.
  • Makes sense as to why that might be redacted.
  • He wants the other half of the stone.
  • Nice artifact there, Steve.
  • Darn, not a long jacket.
  • Hard to sneak up on people in echo-y halls.
  • Nice trap.
  • Of course Pete and Myka would be carrying the halves of the stone.
  • Well that worked fairly well... for a bit.
  • I stand corrected.
  • Nice light show.
  • Yeah... incredibly clever to kill the building on top of you.
  • I think they're going to choose to die together.
  • Way to have time for dying words.
  • That sucks for Charlotte.
  • She's the Keeper? Interesting...
  • Yay! They got Claud out!
  • OMG. Wow. That's really very not cool.

Lost and Found - Warehouse 13

Intro/Overview

Sorry for the prolonged absence. I've... had issues. I also missed last Saturday's episodes of Sinbad and Primeval: New World. SyFy isn't putting episodes of those online and I really don't feel like downloading those episodes elsewhere so... I won't have reviews for those up at all. However, what follows this intro are my Initial Reactions for tonight's Warehouse 13.

SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Warehouse 13, please leave the blog, watch it, and return later... unless you'd like to be spoiled. Initial Reactions are like live Tweets. They contain many spoilers.

Warehouse 13 - "Lost & Found" - Initial Reactions

  • Dark and stormy conditions never bode well.
  • Poor Myka.
  • Nice thing to spring on him at 1 AM... well that's really weird...
  • Lol, sandwich theft!
  • Interesting use of stock footage.
  • Artie keeps things in weird places.
  • Listen to Jinks, he knows best!
  • Sneaky McSneakerson is being Sneaky.
  • Of course he'd be her son. I don't like him.
  • Well that was an interesting setting screen.
  • It still amuses me that the B&B has a purple roof.
  • I think it's that guy's face... it bugs me for some reason.
  • It's Sneaky Mom.
  • Yeah really, stop dancing around the issue.
  • This is true, but you're a bad chick.
  • No Pete, Blue Cheese.
  • So you're eating Whipped Cream? Really Pete?
  • Lies.
  • Huh. Weird CG.
  • One Time Use Only.
  • Because Myka is awesome!
  • Yeah... that was totally really obvious.
  • Wohoo manipulation...
  • Seriously, Myka?
  • Silly Pete is silly.
  • That's apparently not that hard...
  • I really love Claud and Jinks as a team. They're awesome.
  • That's awesome.
  • Aren't they the same thing?
  • WTF are you doing there?!
  • Warehouse 13 cat fights are always fun.
  • I hate hidden passages.
  • Ghost-y artifact!
  • It's afraid of bells?
  • Well that was interesting...
  • Oh geez!
  • Well duh guys.
  • Of course that was it. Poor Artie.
  • Shapeshifting artifact. Nice trick.
  • Serves her right, though I'm sure that was her plan... that ended in her death. Go figure.
  • Of course there's not.
  • Well duh.
  • Lol, Artie and Pete together are really interesting.
  • I enjoy how they all carry bags in their pockets.
  • You invoke "Spoilers"?!
  • Paracelsus? Who?
  • Anthony Stewart Head!
  • That's not good.
  • Okay, now how is Charlotte alive?
  • Well then. Of course that'd be somewhere.
  • Immortality gets boring as fuck after a while, I'd imagine.
  • And of course she'd give that up.
  • Eternal childhood is a very bad thing, if Claudia from Interview With The Vampire has taught us anything.
  • And of course this is where Myka would tell Pete.
  • Of course he did. Of course.

Initial Reactions - Sisiutl

SPOILER WARNING
If you have not seen this evening's episode of Primeval: New World, please leave the blog and come back later. Initial Reacions, like Live Twitter feeds, are often full of spoilers.

Primeval: New World - "Sisiutl" - Initial Reactions
  • Johnny Depp looking guy on a boat...
  • Sudden disappearance of the guy on the boat...
  • Reappearance of the boat.
  • Sea serpent under the chick's boat...
  • Chick dies, too. Now who's going to alert the team to weirdness?
  • Interesting opening...
  • Hello nerdy Lieutenant.
  • Yup, just come out and say that in the middle of a very open hallway.
  • Oh, that chick was his wife?
  • From this point forward tonight, my initial reactions will be spotty... due to stuff...
  • Why is this guy even on this team?
  • Dun dun dun, Anomaly in the water.
  • Ah, so it was a Native Person telling them.
  • Gotta love those rivalries.
  • Obviously.
  • Cryptids are more than just sea monsters, dude.
  • Hello snake.
  • Hello snake lunch.
  • Dylan, didn't anyone tell you wandering around by yourself when there are dangerous creatures on the loose is a bad idea?
  • Is this her police guy friend?
  • Everyone's just lining up to get themselves eaten...
  • That's gross.
  • But you can say it was flying monkeys?
  • Fuck the uniform. It's stupid.
  • Also don't be on a boat at this point.
  • Oh yes, let's go down this road, that's a brilliant plan.
  • Go Dylan!
  • W00T storm drains.
  • Ew goo.
  • Oh look, someone else to get killed.
  • An idiot does that.
  • So... what were you planning to do when it caught up with you, Evan?
  • Ew, obviously not something you wanted to wipe your flashlight on.
  • Well that was convenient.
  • It's a giant snake, it can probably lift itself up there, dudes.
  • Yup, make noise, attract attention.
  • And I was right.
  • That was obviously a bad idea.
  • Yeah... I really don't like Ange. She's not his boss damnit.
  • Flimsy doors...
  • Yeah, that's a good idea Evan. Good thing you're faster than the snake.
  • Okay, so now the only sound-making things in there are you. Brilliant plan.
  • Hello helpfully unhelpful police guy.
  • Bye bye snake.
  • Oh, now they listen...
  • So... why not just call Mac instead of going through Toby?
  • Yup, now you're stuck with the giant snake.
  • Spontaneously back. W00T.
  • Time to start banging on the boat.
  • Oh, the drill works, but not the boat?
  • Clever, though.
  • Time to do the completely ridiculous thing that you're not going to die from... inexplicably.
  • She wasn't even there!
  • See, they're quick on that uptake. Took the ARC team a season or two to figure that out.

Initial Reactions - Warehouse 13 - Runaway

SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Warehouse 13, please leave the blog and come back later. Initial Reactions, like Live Tweets, usually contain spoilers.

Warehouse 13 - "Runaway" - Initial Reactions

  • Episodes that start in prisons never end well.
  • Weather artifact?
  • Giant lava monster?
  • Dude, let Artie plan the dang party already.
  • Ow...
  • Mad clock is mad.
  • Ouch.
  • Pete biting his tongue is kind of amusing.
  • How very astute.
  • That's very trippy.
  • This is a good point.
  • Claudia is very touched.
  • Clowns are creepy, Artie!
  • Well that's interesting...
  • Nope, someone without an artifact who just happens to be doing artifact-y things... she says sarcastically in response to Pete's comment.
  • "Hillbilly Spa Resort" pretty amusing line there.
  • Way to be obviously weird about the ex, Jinks.
  • Myka, you're such the best girlfriend ever.
  • Lol, Pete.
  • Way to be un-subtle about talking up Steve, Myka.
  • Prisoner in the background is kind of distracting.
  • That's kind of ridiculously cryptic.
  • Ya'll are over-thinking it.
  • I think someone wanted an excuse to use the the fish-eye lens.
  • It's a Vesuvius related artifact.
  • That's a crappy cover story, Pete.
  • Hey, Pete's gotta eat.
  • And apparently so does Myka.
  • Of course you're gonna do it now, there's no reason he'd be in the episode otherwise.
  • So hard on yourself there, Jinks.
  • Yay for family connections...
  • Guy in the idiot shirt is obviously an idiot.
  • Dude, go get the guy, Claud!
  • Go Claud!
  • Gotta love those gang initiations...
  • Well that landed in a horrible place...
  • And late to the party, our intrepid heroes, Myka and Pete.
  • Yup, jump on top of the extremely melt-y car.
  • Okay... that was an interesting end to the idiot guy...
  • Car surfing? Why are the cars not melting quicker? I mean, it's a nice idea and everything, but really?
  • Well that lava cooled quickly.
  • Gotta have those "family" moments with the characters who mean nothing to the audience...
  • As if there was any doubt the kid was going to go talk to his dad after that.
  • Pete never does listen.
  • So true!
  • Dude, Bradley Copper looks good in most anything, even trash bags.
  • The Prius survived? What is this nonsense?!
  • Everyone gets all kind of creepy on Jinks-y.
  • See, Artie fraking rocks! And no clowns!
  • That song was better on electric guitars.

Initial Reactions - The New World

Housekeeping

At the time of typing this section, I'm in the middle of watching Sinbad on SyFy. I was babysitting when it started so I won't have Initial Reactions for that up this evening. Hopefully, though, I will be getting those up for later episodes.

Tomorrow, I'll be having reviews of tonight's Sinbad and Primeval: New World. I've also finished Fringe: Season 3 so I should have a review of that up sometime next week.

SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen the first episode of Primeval: New World, please leave the blog and come back later. Initial Reactions, like live Tweets, usually contain spoilers.

Primveal: New World - "The New World" - Initial Reactions

  • Interesting reveal of the dino. Liked the original one in Primeval better.
  • Is there some reason we're watching people building-dive?
  • Pterosaur!
  • Well that's an interesting dynamic.
  • Sneaky Connor is sneaky and annoyed.
  • It's gonna take me forever to stop calling Evan, Zane because Eureka.
  • Got to love that slow-mo.
  • Hello Claudia/Jenny look alike.
  • What is Evan the president of?
  • My sister is distracting me by informing me that the Claduia/Jenny look alike played Jenna in The Vampire Diaries.
  • Already calling them Anomalies.
  • Nice walkthrough of your headquarters.
  • Funny, the ARC team seem to have no problem getting to them...
  • That scene was unnessecary.
  • Sneaky Connor is sneaky.
  • So... what's Connor looking for?
  • Ah, the thing he dropped.
  • And now we get an example of Connor's horrible lying skills.
  • Hello Anomaly.
  • Raptor!
  • Yeah, that was a good plan.
  • That was a convenient Anomaly closing.
  • Poor Raptor, can't find his way home.
  • ARC is the best authority for this.
  • The old guy is gonna die.
  • Of course it would be a homeless guy that got partially eaten.
  • Bye bye Drake. Nice knowing you for all of not a lot of time.
  • So, what? The Raptor just disappeared? Didn't eat a lot of either of the guys? What?
  • I'm pretty sure whoever wrote Connor for this hasn't written Connor before.
  • Yeah, 'cause that's worked so well in the past...
  • You're just gonna leave him hanging like that? Really?
  • I'm not sure I like this chick.
  • Hello Mulder's office.
  • That's a crappy name for a project.
  • Yup, government.
  • They need a Jenny. If you watched Primeval, you'll know what I'm talking about.
  • My dad is laughing about the ancient stuff government dude has.
  • Yay for stealing random high-powered weapons with tranq darts in 'em.
  • I liked the kid from the first Primeval episode better.
  • I miss Stephen.
  • How the heck do you know you don't have time?
  • Yup, because dinos speak English.
  • Yeah... the Raptor conveniently shows up right where the Pterosaur was and takes it out for them.
  • He built his business where his girlfriend was killed? And he's got an Anomaly... or his girlfriend on ice.
  • Or not... could be an ARC person. But who?

Goodnight, Sweet Grimm - Initial Reactions

SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Grimm, please leave the blog and come back later. Initial Reactions, like live Tweets, often contain spoilers.

Grimm - "Goodnight, Sweet Grimm" - Initial Reactions

  • Time for the really long recap.
  • That room is very red.
  • Eric just happens to have a handy test subject.
  • Oh yes, incredibly fascinating.
  • So they're in pain that entire thing.
  • This is true.
  • Oh yay, tears.
  • Hooray!!!
  • W00T, Voodoo rituals.
  • Doppleganger?
  • Gee Rosalee, way to have some weird food nerves.
  • Awkward dinners are awkward. Those two are so cute.
  • Romance everywhere tonight.
  • Well then.
  • So... Renard knows who that is?
  • Zombie time. Fun fun.
  • Dude, Adalind, you're pregnant.
  • See, that's what drinking while pregnant gets you.
  • What's she need spinal fluid for?
  • I very much missed Nick and Juliette together.
  • Chaos makes me dizzy.
  • It's always a "shut the door kind of conversation."
  • Not no mention, family matters tend to get messy.
  • That would probably be the blowfish guy.
  • Ah, Wu, ever so fun.
  • Where's Hank?
  • Oh noes! Wu's been attacked!
  • Is that kind of zombification communicable?
  • Gotta love random brick walls.
  • Hank!
  • Nothin' going on here, just sort of stealing a body for weird testing.
  • Okay but... does he smell dead? I hate it when people don't use their powers.
  • W00T violent behavior.
  • That is creepy looking.
  • I like that Monroe is totally creeped out by this.
  • Yes, yes he could.
  • Way to be all weird around the zombie-guy.
  • Awkward punch was awkward.
  • This was not what I was expecting. Oh Geez, totally not what I was expecting. That's creepifying.
  • None of these things are surprising.
  • This promises to be at least a little entertaining.
  • Yes, that would leave an impression.
  • Renard's not going to fall for your crap, Eric.
  • Ya'll need to pay attention to what's across the street.
  • Good evening, sunshine.
  • Go Juliette.
  • I'm so happy for them. And I'm not being sarcastic.
  • Good girl, Juliette. You're awesome.
  • Way to be somewhat creepily happy Stefania.
  • Way to tell Pech your plans.
  • Stefania is actually kind of awesome, for an evil chick.
  • That didn't last long, for which I am very happy.
  • Huh. Interesting that Adalind was in on that.
  • I do love Monroe's reactions to stuff.
  • Lol, Juliette.
  • Ah, the awkwardness.
  • It's a key, silly. Pay attention.
  • Except you know that's not going to happen, seeing as Al said there were a lot.
  • Hooray fight scenes.
  • Way to spend a lot of precious time talking that out.
  • Yeah, that was reassuring.
  • I would not go face to face with a guy who spits crap in your face.
  • I love cane swords.
  • I saw that bit coming, not so much the carting him off to part unknown, but I definitely saw Nick getting Zombified.
  • Good thing Nick had Rosalee hide the key.
  • Lol, those evil, evil, evil Grimm people!

The Sky's the Limit - Initial Reactions

SPOILER WARNING

If you haven't seen tonight's episode of Warehouse 13, please leave the blog and return later. Initial Reactions, like live Tweets, usually contain spoilers.

Warehouse 13 - "The Sky's the Limit" - Initial Reactions

  • Poor Artie.
  • Even depressed, Artie is still amusing.
  • Hey, it's that chick again.
  • Ow.
  • That guy has a very pink gold outfit.
  • Good job, Jinks.
  • People who say that always have stuff to hid, tho.
  • Jinks sucks at lying.
  • That was a crappy text-thingy.
  • They just happened to have one of those?
  • Oh, Pete...
  • Pete, Pete, Pete... no strippers for you.
  • Mad rush for the chips of a dead person.
  • Gotta love old school filing systems.
  • Kelly Hu!
  • New people. They're so much fun.
  • How did they not see that giant glaring sign?
  • Huh. Interesting.
  • I love Jinks-y.
  • Fail accent, Claud.
  • All that purple on both everyone in that scene.
  • Good job, Claud.
  • Ah, Artie.
  • Wow, Artie, way to freak out the new chick. That's not going to end well.
  • Well that's an interesting thing to happen to a witness.
  • It's either the skeesy guy or the valet dude.
  • That's the third person wearing purple this episode.
  • Okay... that's an interesting way to put it.
  • You hand it over to Warehouse agents, though.
  • Myka's face there... lol.
  • This poor guy.
  • Claudia. Poor Jinks-y.
  • Hey, it's that chick! And she's the one using the artifact.
  • Poor stuck Pete.
  • Yep, ignore the really obvious necklace on the assistant.
  • Ya'll are slow.
  • That's not what's going on, lady.
  • Poor horses.
  • Well that figures.
  • That's nice to know.
  • Pete, gets benched by cookies. Go figure.
  • Why did you open the sunroof?
  • Ouch. Poor Pete.
  • It's real, it's just hard to explain.
  • Poor Marty.
  • No one ever thinks about the murder aspect of things.
  • Don't leave the Farnsworth sitting around!
  • Hello creepy lady.
  • Wha?!
  • Marty gets a grand tour?
  • Lol, Jinks-y.
  • Magically, the plants are alive again!
  • Artie, you've made me tear up again!
  • H.G. next week!

  • That's an interesting little poem.

  • Oh, the awkwardness is amusing.
  • She's obviously not right.
  • Oh, that's no good at all!
  • The kids pulled one over on you, Doctor.
  • Space hair?
  • Poor Doctor.
  • Why hook her to the TARDIS?
  • Oh... that's no good.
  • She can be a right bitch when she doesn't like something.
  • Ouch. Poor abused TARDIS.
  • I'm not sure I like knowing about Clara this early in the episode.
  • You broke her!
  • Poor TARDIS.
  • How did they get there?
  • Yay! Jenny's not dead!
  • No, that's not disturbing.dripping with sarcasm
  • Clara's getting really disoriented.
  • She's remembering "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS."
  • Strax, you amuse me so.
  • River, you are rather sneaky, aren't you?
  • Oh... poor girl.
  • The console room is the same as the present one.
  • Poor Doctor.
  • sad0048 Free Sad Emoticons

    Sacrifice - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Arrow or Supernatural, please leave the blog and come back later. The following initial reactions, like live Tweets, will most likely contain spoilers.

    Arrow - "Sacrifice" -Initial Reactions

    • Flashback to the raft?
    • So Merlyn's decided to torture Olly?
    • I'm sure there are fangirls going crazy cuz Olly's shirt's off... again.
    • Yeah, the two times you guys fought.
    • Oh joy, island flashbacks.
    • This is why you don't make noise when you're killing people.
    • Bye bye plane.
    • I would not survive that, I don't think. That looked like it hurt a lot.
    • Hey, Diggle.
    • This would be when Felicity gets picked up by Detective Lance.
    • Suddenly, daylight.
    • Well this all kind of sucks for Felicity.
    • Go Felicity! You're totally gonna make me cry.
    • Well hello, Tommy.
    • Well duh.
    • Yeah, that was a good plan, Tommy.
    • And that's what breaks Tommy completely from Olly.
    • Good thing you're there than.
    • Why had no one come up behind Slade?
    • Yay, they saved the plane. And blew up the camp. Nice.
    • Okay, not so much hating on Detective Lance anymore.
    • Got to love it when the superiors don't listen to you.
    • Poor Moira... having to hear that all of a sudden.
    • Of course he did. The bad guys always get impatient at the last minute.
    • Well hello, Laurel.
    • No, no he won't.
    • Well that's a nice way to put it. This music is not necessary.
    • Got to love those CW dramatic kisses with the sunlight blurring out the shot.
    • Go crying back to Daddy, Tommy.
    • Yeah, Tommy, your father's a gigantic jerk.
    • Why is that in a weird bowl?
    • Uhmmm... there's no evidence people were walking by.
    • Gotta love John Barrowman acting angry.
    • Well DUH. Of course it's gonna be underground.
    • Go Moira!
    • Well that was a lovely reaction to her outing you.
    • There you go, annoying Lieutenant.
    • Go Thea.
    • Time for Tommy to see the Black Archer outfit.
    • Ouch.
    • He broke a bow.
    • Dude, who else is gonna take on Merlyn?
    • So who's gonna track down the device?
    • Tear-jerking moment, there.
    • Not who I thought Olly was gonna call in, but it makes more sense than who I thought.
    • All the feels!
    • There's Roy.
    • Mass panic is extremely scary.
    • Diggle needs his own costume.
    • Yup, let's break up the crazy with some superfluous flashback.
    • Well, there's Slade, being a jerk as usual.
    • Except no one really wants to listen to you, Fyers.
    • Good boy, Olly.
    • Hello weapons cache and Merlyn.
    • Those boys really needed to work on their team fighting skills.
    • It  looks kind of like the central column of the TARDIS console.
    • Looting is in full swing.
    • Go Roy.
    • Hi, Thea.
    • Cute.
    • Ouch. Gotta love those trick arrows.
    • That's really very not good.
    • T_T
    • The only thing I hate about season finales are the tears.
    • Also, gotta love the no-texting-and-driving-thing.
    • This is why Roy's gonna be a hero someday.
    • Good going, Diggle.
    • Owwwwww...
    • Shut down!
    • That seriously sucks and was really unexpected.
    • And of course Laurel would get trapped and be covered in debris.
    • Tommy to the rescue!
    • Okay, so now Tommy's dead. Lovely.
    • Rebar through the chest, never a good thing.
    • T_T
    • All my feels, damnit!

Supernatural - "Sacrifice" - Initial Reactions

    •  I quite honestly hate this song.
    • Season long recaps are kind of boring for those of us who've watched all season.
    • Okay... this is just kinda really weird.
    • Because he's the King of Hell with a bunch of books!
    • He's gonna kill you now like.
    • Why is that their ringtone?
    • Ah, Dean. Ever the diplomatic one.
    • Of course, Supernatural finales make me giggle...
    • That was an interesting place to hide it...
    • Get real, Kevin's never going back to that.
    • A bit of a sexist? A bit?
    • Of course the contract is ridiculously long.
    • Where have you been, Crowley? There's always trouble in "paradise."
    • That's fun. I like it.
    • That reveal probably would have been more fun if it wasn't in all the previews.
    • So checking the personals was a good plan?
    • He never has been.
    • Ouch.
    • Well that's a nice place for some torture.
    • How many times have you said that, Sam? Or Dean for that matter?
    • Okay, that's why you don't ever ask Dean for advice.
    • Oh, I do love that turn around-ness.
    • Nothin' like a creepifying confessional.
    • Do not surprise people who are fixin' to load guns.
    • Of course he'd show up just then.
    • Forgot the incantation there, Sammy.
    • No one's ever out, Kev.
    • Geez, Cas.
    • That worked?
    • Cas, you are hilariously inept sometimes. It's hilarious.
    • Dude, Dean's always been drinking on the job.
    • And of course Cas doesn't get that reference.
    • Lol, of course he'd be gay and Cupid would be a girl.
    • Well that traps been sprung.
    • Hello Abbadon.
    • Ow. Poor Sam.
    • Bye bye Abbadon. Or not. Of course not.
    • Poor Metatron.
    • That was totally not what happened, Crowley.
    • That's Crowley's humanity showing.
    • I seriously love Mark Shepherd.
    • Of course it is.
    • Well duh. Of course he was gonna die doing that.
    • Seriously?
    • Well then, I take back what I said about "Poor Metatron."
    • Dude, knock it off. Well OBVIOSULY.
    • I agree with Sam. It's fracking worth it.
    • Well that seriously sucks for Cas.
    • Metatron is batshit crazy.
    • Never thought Dean would move me to tears.
    • It's really not good when all the electronics go off at once.
    • So pretty but so very, very bad.

The Waking Dead - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's Grimm, please leave the blog and come back later. The following Initial Reactions, like live tweets, will invariably contain spoilers.

Grimm - The Waking Dead - Initial Reactions

    • Evil castle of evil!
    • This is all well and good until he finds out she's pregnant.
    • What "proposal" is this?
    • Dude, just let the girl apologize.
    • You'd better have a chance! Having you and Nick apart was just heart wrenching.
    • Yay smooches!
    • Angry Blutbat is angry... if that was a Blutbat.
    • And my cable cut out. That's wonderfulness.
    • So... is that guy Wu's partner?
    • This woman's voice reminds me of some character from an X-Men movie... I think.
    • Ouch. That is an entirely painful way of signing a contract.
    • The ME guy has purple gloves...
    • It's actually nice to see Hank still on crutches. Continuity is awesome.
    • Okay... who's the guy in the hat?
    • Zombies. Thanks previews, you suck.
    • No, that wasn't weirdly creepy at all...
    • These favors are gonna get more and more awkward.
    • Monroe doesn't want to show her.
    • And it gets more awkward.
    • Bud!
    • Lol, if Bud freaks out, he might just vogue for her.
    • I love Bud.
    • Go Monroe. Bud's freaking out over nothing, I think anyway.
    • Monroe's face during that whole scene... priceless.
    • Nope, weird guy with top hat.
    • Yes, because the guy under the hat doesn't matter as much...
    • Poor Rosalee, getting dumped on by everyone.
    • But of course, Rosalee is also the voice of reason. Also, calmer than everyone else.
    • Oh, this episode. I'm totally loving it.
    • Nope, that's not creepy at all.
    • Rosalee's so cute!
    • Dude, she needs some air. That's it.
    • Lol, this is hilariously awkward and awesome.
    • Yes! You're totally prepared to vogue. Lol, Bud.
    • Lol, this scene is so ridiculously awesomely funny.
    • Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh rawr. Blutbats are definitely creepier than everything else... everything else being Rosalee and Bud.
    • Knew that was coming.
    • Obviously she'd know that.
    • Well that was definitely an adverse reaction.
    • They're way ahead of you, Wu.
    • Isn't that Renard's friend?
    • Pech creeps me out.
    • She looked a lot like Famke Jensen in that shot.
    • Well obviously she's not there.
    • Yeah... because nothing can happen in 15 minutes. (SARCASM)
    • Hmmm... so what's Renard going to do?
    • Ah, Wu, you have no idea.
    • Huh. Was not expecting a pufferfish Wessen.
    • Okay, now where's Juliette?
    • Puffer-dude on a rampage.
    • Well hello Prince Crazy-Hair Eric.
    • What is Puffer-dude up to?
    • Of course he'd be keeping them in a shipping container.
    • Renard's spy is soooo gonna get caught.
    • I'm interested, Bud!
    • Keep tellin' yourself that, darlin'.
    • They're so cute!
    • Why are you having this discussion in the doorway?
    • She's okay!
    • Oh goodness, Eric. Really?
    • Puffer-guy's working for Eric. Lovely.
    • Evil laughs all around!

Nightmare In Silver - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING
If you have not seen this evening's Doctor Who, please leave the blog and come back later. The following Initial Reactions are like Live Tweeting and therefore contain spoilers

Doctor Who - "Nightmare in Silver" - Initial Reactions
    • That's a new thing...
    • It's really obviously not the moon.
    • Imperial Order?
    • That was just weird.
    • Disappointed kids are going to be annoying.
    • Of course he is.
    • Yeah... not that creepy.
    • Hey, I recognize that bit of fringe.
    • Warwick Davis!
    • Okay, those little things were creepy.
    • It's nice to see Warwick out of tons of makeup.
    • Yay anti-grav.
    • Typical teenager.
    • He's curious.
    • Yup, it's a brilliant idea to leave the kids in a room by themselves.
    • And Rule #1 comes into play again.
    • And it's alive again.
    • Oh God, that's terrifying.
    • Of course the kid wanders off. Of course she does.
    • It looks like an eye.
    • I recognize the chick with the big hair from Sherlock, I think.
    • And of course Angie gets in trouble with the soldier people.
    • Cyberman attacks.
    • You did blackmail her into bringing you along.
    • A really fast Cyberman. That's new.
    • But why take Angie?
    • Lol, "Stay alive until I get back."
    • That's a good order.
    • Okay, that was slightly creepy.
    • What is going on between those two?
    • You, Doctor, are such a dork.
    • Cyber-Silverfish, more like.
    • Got to love those transmats.
    • Why did they need children?
    • Clara's got him sorted.
    • Ah yes, that inifinite potential.
    • That looks rather painful.
    • Ooooooooo... that's cool.
    • Matt Smith is truly awesome.
    • The Cyber Planner is jumping about just like The Doctor. It's a little weird.
    • This is not going to end well.
    • Except there's a small problem, The Doctor will win. Or something will happen that makes The Doctor stay The Doctor. So... there goes the tension, because I thought about it too much.
    • Yes, that's incredibly intimidating...
    • And detachable hand... that's not good.
    • Hooray power structure fights.
    • Well that's not suspicious at all...
    • Must bring up the gold thing.
    • He's the emperor?
    • Uhmm... that was weird.
    • That is very obviously not the whole Cyberman.
    • Yeah... that is a very not good thing there.
    • I really love Clara.
    • Got to reference the Tenth Doctor.
    • That would not be The Doctor. The Cyberplanner is annoying.
    • Clara is really clever and awesome. Totally "The Boss."
    • That's a lot of Cybermen, and that shot reminded me of "New Earth."
    • Don't tell him that!
    • Lies
    • Cyberplanner is in his head, though. That's not a good thing.
    • Well there goes that.
    • Well crap-tastic.
    • Yup, knew that wouldn't work.
    • Clara is surprisingly good at commanding a makeshift army.
    • Okay, that was slightly cool.
    • The Time Lord invented chess? Color me surprised.
    • Wha huh?
    • Don't celebrate yet, Clara.
    • Ouch.
    • Figured that was going to happen. Well... not exactly that, but close enough.
    • I think there's a podcaster out there who's going to be very annoyed that Angie knew who he was before anyone else.
    • Time to go to the TARDIS.
    • What about the TARDIS?
    • Ah yes, there you go.
    • Bye bye planet.
    • Saw that coming about two seconds before he said that.
    • "Proper" Emperors are ridiculous and annoying.
    • The little one is awesome.
    • Give the kid a phone, get on her good side.
    • Really? Had to throw that in?
    • How did you miss the ping-y thing?

Kiss of the Muse - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Grimm, please leave the blog and come back later. The following Initial Reactions will contain spoiler-y babblings.

Grimm - "Kiss of the Muse" - Initial Reactions

    • That's not a normal cat scratch.
    • Oh, that's actually a cool way to do that.
    • Never had veggie steaks, but they don't sound appetizing.
    • Yay, Hank's back!
    • Zip lining? Weird.
    • Lol, Nick and his dry humor.
    • Mass panic. Always a good sign.
    • Those poor books!
    • Wonder what kind of Wesen that guy was.
    • He's an otter Wesen!
    • Right, so batting your pretty eyes at Nick is going to make everything you say sounds better.
    • Gotta love those gossipy land ladies.
    • Nick suspects something hinky...
    • That painting with the eyes is really creepy.
    • No, but it would be cool.
    • So, Muse chick inspires guys to eventually commit murder...
    • Cooking on either side of the phone. Fun fun.
    • This is not gonna turn out well.
    • A number? Like pretty much all of his paintings.
    • *cue screaming at the TV*
    • Seriously?
    • She's all elf-y and pretty!
    • Too late.
    • Okay... that was an interesting way to do a thrown brick.
    • Bad plan, almost standing up Juliette.
    • Juliette looks awesome.
    • Okay, that's doubly not good.
    • This is really a bad time for the Muse to be messing with Nick.
    • Off is an understatement.
    • Nick's head is being messed with...
    • Geez Nick, way to act like a teenage kid.
    • Ouch.
    • Got to love the line of communication.
    • Weird guy in the bar is weird.
    • Geez, Nick.
    • Dude, Hank, don't let Nick go off by himself!
    • At least Nick drew her.
    • The trailer!
    • Rosalee's first time in the trailer!
    • Rosalee's totally geeking out. It's kind of awesome.
    • Interesting painting materials there, otter guy.
    • Of course. Why wouldn't it be in German?
    • Thought I'd heard that artist's name before.
    • That's an interesting take on Van Gogh.
    • That's really very not good.
    • Except she's kissed him, OBVIOUSLY.
    • Of course they don't.
    • Poor Nick.
    • Got to love those puzzle pieces.
    • Which we found out with Juliette and Renard earlier.
    • Listen to your girlfriend! Good boy.
    • Wow...
    • Lol, yes, the drawings are always very weird.
    • So that's it? That's her not-diseased-state reaction to that?
    • That sucks.
    • Oh good, Juliette went back to Rosalee's shop.
    • Hint hint, Juliette.
    • This is really, really not going to end well.
    • So now she's pitting them against each other?
    • She's enjoying it?!
    • That's a crap ton of broken glass.
    • Lovely way to explain without explaining.
    • Ohhhhhhh.... not cool.
    • Team Grimm to the rescue!
    • Spell broken?
    • *Happy Tears*
    • Good job, Renard! Oh, that made me laugh.
    • Hexenbastard makes an awesome threat, doesn't he?

Parks and Rehabilitation - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Warehouse 13, please leave the blog and return later. The following Initial Reactions will contain spoilers.

There will be a Housekeeping section after the Initial Reactions, if you're interested.

Warehouse 13 - "Parks and Rehabilitation" - Initial Reactions

    • Started after opening credits because of movie with the family.
    • Oh yes, loads of fun...
    • What gave off that impression?
    • Lol, shut down.
    • Fail, Pete.
    • Because you didn't put on bug spray.
    • Ouch. The poor phone.
    • Of course the connection sucks, there's no wifi out there.
    • Poor Artie...
    • Lol, awkward Pete.
    • That's usually what "He's dead" means.
    • Suspiciously upset person.
    • W00T Marijuana place.
    • Grow house, not artifact.
    • So why that symbol?
    • Claud's not the only one with computer skills, though it's funny Claud still had to hack his account.
    • "Gnarly" I love Pete.
    • They're totally going to be there, too, that's the sad thing.
    • That's kind of a cool place.
    • Okay, that's really cool.
    • Really, really cool.
    • It never does, Jinksy.
    • Okay, I was wrong.
    • Theory: The ranger is behind the murder.
    • Yeah... should have suspected "she of the suspicious crying."
    • Lol, Pete.
    • Stupidity does that to people.
    • Well that sucks for Lockheart. (Or however you spell his name)
    • Wrong place for the porthole. Chaos in the Warehouse.
    • The Feng-shui spiral read Artie, not the porthole.
    • Got to love the big business angry people.
    • Ominus crashes are never good.
    • Ha! It was the ranger!
    • That's not good.
    • That was kind of a horrible effect.
    • Lol, Pete, focus on the important stuff.
    • Claudia makes the coolest stuff.
    • Gargoyles aren't good at the best of times... sort of.
    • A heck of a lot of damage.
    • People with vendettas never do.
    • Seriously, big business people annoy me to no end.
    • Right on cue.
    • Monologue-ing gets no one anywhere.
    • Lol, poor Jinks-y.
    • Jinks-y screams like a girl.
    • Love the design of that thing!
    • Awww... they broke it.
    • Is it weird that I find it strange that Pete wears Prada anything?
    • Glad that's over.
    • They're Artie's emotions.
    • Hug time!
    • Or not.
    • Lol, Jinks.
    • Yay, the porthole has a place!
    • Same old story.
    • Got to love the metaphors.
    • Awkward time with Claud and Artie! With hug time!
    • Mark Shepherd's voice!
    • Good on you, Leena.

    Housekeeping

It had been my intention to post reviews for the last episodes of The Vampire Diaries and Once Upon a Time before I did Initial Reactions tonight. Obviously that didn't happen. However, I am still planning to post those at some point tonight, so keep an eye open.

Second Star To The Right - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Once Upon a Time, please leave the blog and come back later. The following Initial Reactions will invariably contain spoilers.

Once Upon a Time - "Second Star to the Right" - Initial Reactions

    • Well that was slightly unexpected. Straight from the recap into the episode.
    • It's London.
    • Victorian London, the only place a kid in his kind of outfit would more-or-less fit in.
    • Nana! Wendy, too!
    • Dang those marathons.
    • Gotta say, that was really weird. Poor Frankenstein.
    • Well there goes that ounce of hope for Rumple.
    • So who stole the beans? Tamara?
    • I kind of like Snow's coat.
    • That you know of...
    • There is more than one person in that room.
    • The FBI is in on it?
    • Hook doesn't trust anyone. He double crosses you when you betray him.
    • That's a horrible joke.
    • Torture is no fun.
    • The crap is this?
    • A horrible ad for Disney parks? Yup. Gonna stop talking about it, now.
    • She hiding him away?
    • Oh snap, caught in the act.
    • Mrs. Darling is officially awesome.
    • So does Bae think the shadow is his father?
    • The better question is, how did he get it?
    • Interesting spell.
    • I don't think saving her is going to work, but you can give it a shot.
    • Yeah... sometimes those "feel whatever she feels" spells aren't always what they're cracked up to be.
    • That's creepy.
    • Time for Tamara to lie through her teeth.
    • It's about time they had that talk.
    • So you think, Tamara.
    • Because you're incredibly cock and ridiculous, Greg.
    • Oh how wonderful, religious crazy people.
    • Poor Snow.
    • Wendy seems a little freaked out.
    • Pan's shadow is keeping the Lost Boys there.
    • Something's gonna happen to bring Belle back, me thinks.
    • Family seems to be the only thing, though.
    • Gots to love surveilance.
    • Greg's gonna get caught.
    • Regina's brain is gonna be fried.
    • Yeah, don't believe the people you're torturing for information. That's a good plan.
    • Battle time at the Darling residence.
    • I figured Bae would go with The Shadow.
    • Ick, that flying around is making me motion sick.
    • Good job shooting the machine first!
    • Except is totally was.
    • Neil's amazingly calm.
    • Go Emma!

    • Sucks for Emma and Henry.
    • Dig dig dig.
    • Sucks for you, Greg/Owen.
    • Neverland does not sound like a happy place.

The Crimson Horror - Initial Reactions

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Doctor Who, please leave the blog and return later. The following Initial Reactions will invariably contain spoilers.

Doctor Who - "The Crimson Horror" - Initial Reactions

    • Nice placement of the place and date, there.
    • No, that's not utterly creepy.
    • He's super red.
    • That's a super creepy coroner.
    • Yay Vastra and Jenny!
    • Lol, that guy.
    • He saw The Doctor? Ooookay...
    • "According to my research." - Reminds me of Dorothy Ann from The Magic School Bus.
    • Lol, Strax.
    • She's not that bad looking, still.
    • This is rather church-like, this scene.
    • Of course, that would be the usual strategy.
    • They're keeping a prisoner?
    • With the fainting this episode.
    • Sweetville is certainly forboding.
    • A bunch of phonographs? That's seriously suspicious.
    • I don't like that coroner.
    • So it's something to do with the Silurians, then?
    • Uh... that's really weird.
    • That was weird.
    • Okay what?!
    • That looks like a seriously painful sunburn, that.
    • So essentially he survived a dip in that stuff.
    • He's going to fix himself via sonic.
    • Lol, Doctor.
    • And of course he gets slapped.
    • So... something happened to Clara.
    • This is a cute way to do a flashback.
    • Tegan reference!
    • Is that the dead guy from the beginning of the episode.
    • Well there's that explained.
    • Decided to pretend to be married. Interesting choice.
    • Oookay... that was weird.
    • Clara survived being dipped.
    • Why preserve people, though?
    • Gotta not forget to explain that bit of things to the people helping you.
    • A kid talking like a GPS. Very weird.
    • That's really intensely creepy and weird and just all kinds of wrong.
    • She's seriously messed up.
    • Lol, "attack of the supermodels."
    • Jenny is officially more awesome than before.
    • Well at least Strax is having fun.
    • Poor Strax.
    • Lol, that was amusing.
    • Dude, listen to Clara.
    • With a giant steam-punk rocket.
    • Another not-an-organ.
    • Agreed.
    • I quite like the one-liners in this episode.
    • EWWWWWWWWWW
    • He's kind of cute, though.
    • Yup, totally nutso.
    • It's creepy as fuck. And didn't they try that in "Invasion of the Dinosaurs"?
    • Like mother, like daughter.
    • Good job, Clara.
    • And the world is saved again! By a chair.
    • Gotta love a chase up some stairs.
    • That's really very not good.
    • ROFL, The Doctor's face.
    • She didn't die from that fall?!
    • The soundtrack for this episode reminds me a lot of "Blink."
    • Good girl, Aida.
    • He's not going to, either.
    • They have a vault?
    • Another fainting moment for that dude.
    • Uh oh...
    • Smart kids are smart.
    • Lol, caught by randomness.
    • Dun dun dun.

    The Living and the Endangered

    SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Grimm or last night's episode of Warehouse 13, you should leave the blog and come back later. The following review and Initial Reactions will contain spoilers. If you're interested, there's a small section of the newest "skirmish" in Neopets Obelisk War after the Initial Reactions section, as well as the Housekeeping section.

Warehouse 13 - "The Living and the Dead" - Review

I honestly don't know what to think about this episode. I was incredibly excited Warehouse 13 was back, but "The Living and the Dead" was kind of lack luster. Artie gets a "get out of dead free card," we meet another one of history's artifact users, and supposedly get a new villain introduced. At least, I hope she's going to be a villain. She certainly looks the part.

First I want to talk about Artie's mind and subsequent trauma. It was said in the episode that it makes sense for Artie's mind to be Warehouse 13, but even with that said, it was really obvious that's what it would be. The Warehouse 13 set is already there so what else would they use to do Artie's mental landscape? I found it interesting that Artie decided to communicate with Claudia and Jinks through the mental avatars of Vanessa, MacPherson, and finally Mrs. Frederic. It made sense considering Artie himself was hiding away with his memory of Leena. I'm not entirely sold, though, on the reasons the MacPherson avatar gave for showing up as one of the protectors. I'll take it at face value, though, because, well, there's nothing else to really take it as.

Artie hiding himself away with a memory loop of Leena was quite depressing, actually. I get exactly why he did it and then won't talk to anyone but Mrs. Frederic about it after he's shoved out of his mind. The trauma of what he remembers doing and what he interpreted from Leena when he killed her was just too great to lay on the people he didn't want saving him.

The rest of the story hinges on two things: the lock-picking artifact and Professor Sutton. I thought the lock-picking artifact was a handy deus machina device. I thought Professor Sutton was expertly portrayed by the ever wonderful James Marsters. His fake bumbling and pompous attitude were just brilliant. As he is immortal and it's revealed at the end of the episode that he didn't die from obviously not-fatal wounds, we should be seeing him again. I honestly can't wait.

My favorite scene from "The Living and the Dead" was in the crypt while the "poisonous darts" were flying around. Pete, Myka, and Sutton dodging them was just hilarious. I do wonder, though, what significance the diamond has to Sutton and Charlotte.

I sincerely hope next week's episode is better than this one. I expected to be utterly wowed and just wasn't.

Grimm - "Endangered" - Initial Reactions

    • Oh yay, recaps.
    • Constantinople? What is this nonsense?
    • Cow tipping?
    • Nope, udderless dead cow.
    • Make that cows.
    • Glowing blue thing.
    • Okay... that was weirder than usual.
    • So Monroe's trying to farm his parents or Nick off on Rosalee?
    • It's nice seeing those two together doing normal couple-y stuff.
    • Awkward.
    • lol
    • They're so friggin cute!
    • Must. Stare. At. Key.
    • Monroe knows everything about everything Wesen.
    • Just happened to have a useful relative.
    • For sure? You know period?
    • This is gonna be cute.
    • Juliette looks awesome.
    • Awww...
    • Yup, that was cute.
    • Back to the blue guy.
    • He's got a pregnant wife?
    • OMG, it's that chick!
    • And of course there'd be a UFO nut involved.
    • So now we're being all tense with each other. Great.
    • Of course there was.
    • Two of those have to do with everlasting life: Alchemy & Everlasting Life
    • I think Renard trusts Nick more than Nick trusts Renard.
    • I love Wu.
    • So... what did he take? The chick was obviously eating something.
    • Hey, that looks like a reused farm location.
    • Enter the UFO nut.
    • Lol, Wu.
    • Yup, best way to get your hands on a vehicle. Scare the bejeezus out of the driver, hope they don't run into any trees.
    • And that's supposed to be what?
    • I've got a feeling the UFO nut's gonna find the weird glowy Wesen.
    • In other words, Wesen.
    • Hooray contractions.
    • Convenient abandoned cabin...
    • Monroe's face.
    • I like Juliette's coat.
    • Except Monroe isn't actually that good at keeping secrets.
    • Especially that secret.
    • Well that's certainly an interesting way to put it.
    • That's actually a good question. What is it with cows and aliens?
    • UFO guy isn't what he seems, then. Huh.
    • And he's a Wesen. Interesting.
    • She has to eat their ovaries? Why?
    • Rosalee's reminiscence was pretty awesome.
    • So now we gotta find her.
    • And be awkward about Monroe and Rosalee's relationship there.
    • Bird boy's watchin'.
    • And loading a gun. This is not going to end well.
    • Ew... that effect was gross.
    • The "Scooby Gang" to the rescue!
    • Lol, Nick.
    • Portable dissection table.
    • Monroe has a wicked nose... not that anyone wants to point this out.
    • Oh, NOW we talk about Monroe's nose.
    • That was a crap shot.
    • That's a slightly creepy partial vogue.
    • Like, could technically be a lot of time... gotta love those TV short labors.
    • Rosalee just happens to know how to deliver a baby.
    • That is a really clean baby.
    • And of course the jerk "UFOlogist" shows up.
    • And Nick scares him for just long enough.
    • Boom. Dead.
    • Happy ending, for them at least.
    • Okay... that's just a lot of weird.

    Neopets Obelisk War Update

I know I said this thing was over, but it's really not. Three of the remaining factions have been chosen to "fight to claim the oracle's blessing for themselves" according to today's "Latest News." The three factions battling are:
    1. The Seekers
    2. The Thieves Guild
    3. Order of the Red Erisim
Once again, I will be supporting the Order of the Red Erisim. I will not, however, be turning the blog red again.

I'll keep you updated on happenings with the new "skirmish." You currently have 29 hours to choose your faction. That's the rest of today and all of tomorrow.

    Housekeeping

Uhmmm... yeah... this is basically going to be me begging you for comments. I very rarely get them and I think it would be fun to actually interact with those of you who actually read this thing. Let me know what you thought about the shows I review, my reviews, or, ya know, just say hi.

The Living and the Dead Evil Queen

      SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen last night's Once Upon a Time or tonight's Warehouse 13, please leave the blog and return later. The following Review and Initial Reactions contain spoilers.

Once Upon a Time - "The Evil Queen" - Review

Am I the only one completely confused by Regina's character? First it's: I am the most evil person to ever live in both the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke. Then: I'm going to reform for Henry's sake, because I want him to love me. Then Cora gets to town and it's all: I hate you, I'm going to turn you in. But wait, you can help me get Henry back exactly how he doesn't want me. I'll go ahead and be evil again because two seconds of talking about Henry with you makes me want to make you proud again. And then she just goes back to being evil. Now though, she's decided to ignore everything Henry says to her in order to screw everyone else over. Hey, Regina, Henry's not going to love you if you kill everyone. He's even told you as much. Frigging pay attention and get some psychiatric help.

When then brings me to the Enchanted Forest flashbacks. Here, Regina is characterized as extremely dense. Rumple, and later Snow, tells her that wholesale slaughter isn't going to win her the love of the people, which is what she apparently wants. Then, she doesn't listen to a word Rumple says about the rules of him disguising her. Regina saw for herself how people would be seeing her, but apparently she forgot that really quickly. I'll overlook the parts where she make "magic gestures" because that sort of thing is second nature to her, but that's the only reason I'm looking that over.

So... as of right now, I'm back in the camp of not taking Regina at all seriously as a villain. the way she thinks just doesn't make sense to me at all.

The interesting bits of "The Evil Queen" were invariably less annoying than Regina's inconsistent characterization. Turns out Rumple orchestrated King George's need for money. That makes me wonder about the assassin who killed Prince James and why George is still on good terms with Regina after the fact. She was the one who cut off trade with him.

I thought Maleficent's "zombie" form was incredibly creepy and well done. I had wondered how they were going to bring her back, since Emma killed her at the end of last season. It was interesting and not a cop-out.

I thought Greg and Tamara's tech turning off Regina's powers was interesting. People have been speculating about the "science" killing magic since Storybrooke became accessible to the outside world. Not sure I like it so much, but it's perfectly reasonable. I also thought it was nice that Greg didn't tell Regina what his and Tamara's plans were. He apparently took that bit in The Incredibles about monologue-ing to heart.

Lastly, I thought the Emma and Henry bits were nice for once. I think I've made it clear that I'm not at all a fan of Henry. I thought he worked well in this episode, but my internal jury's still out on whether or not I'm going to actually like him. I thought it was kind of a stretch for Emma to think Tamara was hiding stuff under a hotel room floorboard. That sort of hiding place makes more sense in someone's home. Besides, Granny's is 28 years old at this point. It's bound to have a few creaky floorboards.

Warehouse 13 - "The Living and the Dead" - Initial Reactions

      • Flashback?
      • Yay awkward helicopter rides.
      • Well that was unconvincing fake news.
      • James Marsters?! Yay!
      • Of course religion would be the origin.
      • That was a horrible pun.
      • Lol, Freudian clock.
      • That's awesome. Of course it'd be the Warehouse.
      • Dude, splitting up is never good.
      • That's kind of a weird accent.
      • I do believe I like him.
      • Ick, snakes.
      • Lol, Pete.
      • God, I missed this show.
      • Jinks-y's good at pep talks.
      • I'm really not sure how I feel about the news bits. Leaning toward not liking them.
      • Love you, Pete. This is why we think before we speak.
      • Smart professor is smart.
      • That was cool.
      • James Marsters gets to play the best characters.
      • Claudia is awesome.
      • Nice misdirection there, Pete.
      • Poor Artie.
      • Yeah, really not liking the fake news.
      • That's actually pretty cool.
      • Lol, Pete liked Twilight.
      • Pete, your accent sucks.
      • But why put it on the sarcophagus and not the corpse?
      • W00T booby trapped tombs.
      • Well ow, but it doesn't look very deep... and then poison.
      • That sucks, I liked him.
      • Even if that's a good thing, it still looks creepy.
      • I'm gonna miss Leena.
      • Claud's making me cry.
      • Of course it is. That's a lot of trauma he has to deal with.
      • So... who's Charlotte now? And of course he's not dead!

The Evil Queen - Initial Reactions

      SPOILER WARNING

If you have not seen tonight's episode of Once Upon a Time, please leave the blog and come back later. Spoilers in Initial Reactions are to be expected, that's why I don't live-tweet them.

Once Upon a Time - "The Evil Queen" - Initial Reactions

      • They somehow managed to get him into the clock tower without anyone seeing?
      • OMG, so do lots of other people.
      • I don't technically think that's a good reason for someone to be able to find someone else. And how well does "Greg" think Hook knows Regina?
      • All gathered in front of Granny's house, looks like.
      • They're all more loyal than you are.
      • Well duh.
      • Slaughtering an entire village is quite evil, Regina.
      • Wow, Regina's really twisted.
      • Well that explains that little thing.
      • You haven't even tried for more than 24 hours.
      • This is where Henry is a smart kid.
      • That's not how it works, Regina.
      • Killing people is always villainous.
      • Hooray magical manipulations... she says sarcastically.
      • Rumple did warn you, Regina.
      • How did you forget you're in disguise?
      • Yeah... all this flip-flopping of Regina's personality is weird and annoying.
      • Except Henry's never going to buy that.
      • Except you do have to worry cuz she's evil.
      • And now everyone doubts Emma's powers.
      • That's a very good point.
      • Sometimes Henry is really creepy.
      • That elevator is still kind of awesome.
      • Snow to the rescue.
      • Yes, let's dramatically show ourselves in the middle of town for no apparent reason.
      • Hook is quite wise. I like it.
      • But isn't Maleficent dead? I thought Emma killed her.
      • Well that's creepy.
      • That is seriously disturbing.
      • Hello Snow's coffin.
      • Reset button...
      • Wilma? Lol.
      • Good point, Emma.
      • Lies. But Henry's not freaking out about it.
      • Emma's kind of funny teaching Henry how to signal her.
      • Old place, creaky floor, less than obvious hiding place.
      • They're not gonna find anything.
      • Duh.
      • This would probably be more tense if we didn't know Regina's not going to kill Snow.
      • A sea of slaughtered people.
      • Yes, let's forget the rules of the transformation.
      • Hook-y's not stupid.
      • No magic for you, dearie.
      • Leaning that far over the counter is uncomfortable. Just sayin'.
      • The beans are going to be destroyed.
      • Regina. Duh.
      • You did it to yourself, Regina.
      • Nice manipulation though, Rumple.
      • Of course, it would be science.
      • Wow, a smart villain for once.
