In Which Lots of Things Happen - repost

Anyway... it's been a couple days since I wrote a blog post. This is because I've been doing next to nothing. Well... I painted... and learned how to do something in Gimp... and watched some Doctor Who... and finished watching The Tudors... Okay, so I actually did stuff, I just didn't write about it. ashamed0005 Free Emoticons   Shame

Doomsday: Kinda boring this time around. I cried because Rose and The Doctor cried.

The Runaway Bride: Much funnier now that I've seen it fifteen times. (Approximately) I think it has something to do with watching it with Nikki.

The Tudors: Interesting if you A) like Henry VIII B) like seeing drama and C) like political stuff. I think I was bored a lot of the time, but I stuck with it and finished the series. Thank you, Netflix.

The Painting Part: I have painted another corkboard. This one festures Mystique, Rogue, Nightcrawler, and Destiny. For the uninitiated: a pair of X-Men villians and a pair of X-Men. Mystique is Nightcrawler's birth mother. Mystique and Destiny raised Rogue. And Rogue and Nightcrawler think of each other as siblings. Hence, I put them all on a corkboard.

That's been my last couple of days. Love ya, Jessie. love0052 Free Emoticons   Love

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

Torchwood: Miracle Day
So basically, The Blessing is a big chasm in the middle of the planet that had random bit falling into it... sideways? That's just... huh. Wasn't expecting that.
Back to the beginning, then. I very much enjoyed Gwen pilfering meds for a good cause. Love that Rhys figured things out before everyone else. Loved Gwen's reaction to Oswald Danes showing up in her house. Thought it was Jack to begin with, so that was a bit surprising. I am still confused as to how exactly Jack and Ester got to Scotland, but I'm not too worried about it. Retconning the watcher guy from Phicorp or the government was awesome. Again, not expecting Jack to show up at that point. Also, the revelation that family-girl from the CIA is a lesbian, cool, but at the same time, I want rid of her. fighting0004 Free Emoticons   Fighting
Summary Time! Aren't you excited? I very much enjoyed this episode and I'm glad we finally got to see what The Big Bad is, even if we don't have a clue as to what it is exactly.

Doctor Who: Night Terrors scared0015 Free Scared Emoticons
I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this episode. I think Amy and Rory should have twigged earlier that they were in a dollhouse. I knew right off when Amy picked up the pan and figured out it was wood. Where do you find wooden cooking ware? A dollhouse. Duh. The kid being an alien, saw that coming a mile away. When the landlord guy turned into a doll, I thought for a second it was Rory's hand and he was having Auton flashbacks. Would have been kinda funny. And hey, it was finally Amy's turn to sort of die. Glad it wasn't Rory... again. Oh! I loved his reaction to them ending up in the dollhouse. "We're dead, aren't we? Again." happy0194 Free Emoticons   Happy

Love and Monsters
Now, I used to like this episode of Doctor Who. I'm not sure what exactly made me dislike it, but I now dislike this episode. It may have had something to do with listening to quite a few podcasts that did not like Love and Monsters... but meh.
I honestly was quite annoyed with watching Love and Monsters this time around. I've never liked the Absobaloff, it was rubbish. And Elton... there was someone who came up with a theory about how he was actually kind of addled, I'm not sure who, but I spent the entire episode thinking how annoying he was. I also don't think that The Doctor really would have had someone live as a block of cement. Nope, not happening. mad0037 Free Emoticons   Anger

So there's my view on that. You will be able to see my painting of ducks on my DeviantArt page... later. I'm not uploading it now. Might do tomorrow... maybe.

Let's Kill Hitler on Miracle Day - repost

Torchwood: Miracle Day
Theory of the week: I think Jack is going to die, for good. No Face of Boe for Jack.
Other comments: The CIA is made up of people who don't like to listen to people who might actually know what they're talking about. Also, I want to shoot Ester again.

Doctor Who: Let's Kill Hitler
I'm bouncing off the walls because goodness this was an awesome episode! The only thing, though, was that I knew The Doctor was not going to die. I was pleasantly surprised by the cameos from the voice interface: Rose, Martha, and Donna. Poor Doctor. Mels was a great early River personality. I liked her almost instantly and I'm kind of sad that that's all we're going to get from the Mels personality. The exchanges between River and The Doctor were amusing, although I think someone stuck superspeed onto The Doctor... and the lipstick thing is getting to be a complete giveaway. I knew as soon as The Doctor started going all wonky that River had poisoned him with lipstick.
Jumping back to the beginning of the episode: Crop Circles are amusing. And The Doctor's comment about it sent me into giggles.
All in all, I'm a very happy Whovian at the moment. ^_^

I've also been reading The Science of Doctor Who. The conclusions that I can draw at the moment are:
  • Autons, don't hold your breath, they can't possibly exist.
  • The TARDIS is a big bubble.
  • The Sonic Screwdriver would have to be huge to do what it does.
  • Travelling to other worlds, galaxys, and universes is going to take more power than we could ever have... apparently.
  • Black holes can't really be travelled through without dying by "spaghettification."
  • Silurians can't possibly exist.
  • Having a Human Empire wouldn't actually be feasible.
  • I could have a K-9 at some point that could actually work properly.
  • The Matrix is slowly coming about on Earth.
  • No one could possibly have been around at the beginning of the universe, not even Time Lords.
  • The Eye of Harmony could actually exist.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this book. All of the scientific concepts are understandable and laid out in a fashion that makes sense to the average person.

That's all from me for today. Love ya, Jessie. love0052 Free Emoticons   Love

I adore thunderstorms. They always make me think of dragons. All those big, dark clouds rolling across the sky. The edges looking like smoke. The whisps of lighter cloud in with the dark adding to the illusion. Also, did I mention they're huge? The rain hasn't started yet, but I hope it does rain. We really, really need it. The wind's going a bit nuts at the moment, whipping around hair and tree limbs.

Did I mention I watched Tangled today? I didn't? Well then, "I watched Tangled today." It was a good movie, although I did sort of have a problem with the ending being pretty obvious. Of course *** **** was going to **** ***. Of course... But Rapunzel's "mother" very much reminded me of the Wicked Step-Mother in Cinderella...

Anyway... I've added a "Links" page to the site because I started a Deviantart page... and there's really no good way to put my fanfiction on this website -- page limits and all. So there are links to my fanfiction, more art than is on the "Photo Gallery" page, and some of my game profiles.

Remember The Titans - repost

It's actually somewhat odd that I like this movie, seeing as it's a football movie and I hate football movies. But, again, I absoulutely love this movie.

I guess the reason I love Remember the Titans so much is that it's more character driven than some of the other football movies. I've seen Remember the Titans maybe six times and I think I cry more at each viewing. This being the sixth time I've seen it, I don't really know that I can give an actual review. I can, however, point out that I am a nerd and thereby more into science fiction and fantasy than high school football movies. Remember the Titans ticks all the boxes in my head. Character driven, not heavy into the football game itself, and relatable characters -- even for us nerds.

One thing I thought was funny about this movie this time around is the character of Sheryl. She's played by Hayden Panettiere and Tess Panzer. Hayden was around nine at the time and Tess played the nineteen year old Sheryl. The funny thing is, Tess looks next to nothing like the grown up Hayden. Just something I noticed and was amused by.
